Hi gang!

Yes....it's actually ME (or at least I *think* it's me) Needless to say, with summer in FULL swing and the towns LOADED with tourists, I've been SO blasted busy!

ANYWAY, here's something that doesn't happen everyday and of course, it just HAD to happen to ME I was on patrol this past Weds. afternoon, I had just gone 10-8 after lunch, I had a call, I responded, finished up and JUST as I pulled away from the building, a "LOUD" clap of THUNDER and lightning at the EXACT same time, I was blinded for just a split second and BAM!!! Right across the HOOD of my unit, came "4" lines, ONE POWER LINE, ONE telephone line and two cable lines SCARED me to DEATH (I had to change my uniform) "LOL!" ANYWAY....I had NO IDEA as to WHAT to DO!! I sat there for what seemed like HOURS, thought, "Don't TOUCH ANYTHING!" WELL....I picked up the mic on the radio and in a small voice called dispatched and advised them of my dilema They called the electric company, they responded (in the mean time, the dispatcher was LAUGHING her butt off!)

SO....that's what's been happening in the world of Az Law Enforcement!

I know you consider yourself nearer to God than ever before, but he doesn't need to "reach out and touch you!" Glad you are ok. Been watching storms along the rim much of the week...looks quieter today, though.

Just curious if when you get a good vantage point you can see the Cave Creek Complex fire plume from Pinetop. I remember when the "big one" was burning up your way, we could see the plume clearly most days...and that's about 4 hours by car away!

Dennis , I can certainly see that happening. One night I was coming home from work( got off at midnight) when I passed this building just as a lightning bolt hit it. The hair on the back of my neck was standing up and so was the hair on my arms. I started to shake because it scared the bejeebers out of me. I finished the drive and ran in to the house and collasped into the chair at the table.Then I heard the sirens of the fire trucks as they were going to the fire.

Dennis, that's a great story, and it's true too! I am glad that you lived to tell about it! I gues that was enough excitement for one day. Did they let you go home and change?

Yup.....like I said, it could ONLY happen to me "LOL!" I've seen numerous photos of this happening to other folks, it's one of those "It could never happen to ME!?!"

Steve, I've not had the time nor a good vantage point to view the Cave Creek Complex just yet, although I can smell the smoke up here! Last week, the USDA Forest service reported OVER 1005 lightning strikes up here resulting in numerous fires, nothing major YET (x's fingers!)
