I can see Ronald Reagan being in the top 10, although I suppose I would have expected a close tie with George Washington, which obviously isn't the case since GW is #4. How in the world did Oprah Winfrey make the top 10? I have nothing against her, but above FDR and JFK? Worse yet is #7 (not getting political here...just wondering how he rated so high). I would have included Edison, the Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, and Armstrong farther up there than they were ranked. And Walt Disney would have ranked higher than Oprah, but probably not higher than Elvis.

I almost wish none of the nominee's would of been living people. I think we would of seen a much different list. I just tend to think some of the people were on the list because they are more known and popular today then because of what they actually contributed as Americans. Not that they haven't contributed... but there are people farther down the list that honestly probably belong way closer to the top.

I also have to agree with you on #7. Also trying really not being political also. I just don't see how he beat out so many other note worthy people from history. The thing is when my 12 year old grows up I don't see her remembering Clinton or thinking he is note worthy as an American any more then I remember exactly how Carter impacted America... not that neither did.. just not on a scale to be put up there in the top 10 greatest Americans.
