Have you ever been so upset with something you read in the forums, you just had to bite your tongue and move on.
You wonder where some people come up with statements they make .
NO NAMES PLEASE.

OH, yeah...sometimes it is preferable to let the wind(bags) blow until they're out of breath.

That is ok Feeder, everyone has the right to their opinions on subjects. I am referring to statements people make that come out of nowhere with no facts behind them. Like those, Tom Cruise is making these days. He knows absolutely nothing about either psychiatry or medicine.

Personal attacks of any kind on forums make me want to respond. Sometimes I do.
However, in a different venue, when I am on the planning commission here and someone gets up to speak during the public portion of the debate and decides to unleash a personal attack against one of the commissioners....all bets are off.

I won't tell you how many times I've written something and not hit the submit button. I have a habit of reading what I've written several times and if its a sensitive issue, I give myself a couple of minutes to calm down before I hit the submit button. Many times I just delete it, because I've come to the point where I know when the debate is not going to change another person's point of view.
OH YEAH!

I hate it when anyone is insulted on the boards. I don't see it much but being nasty is never good. I have to tie my hands to the chair sometimes--LOL

Sure, lots of times. People are people and lots of stuff gets said. I pass over a lot of stuff. Every point doesn't have to be challenged.
Of course when things get out of line, I'll put on my moderator hat and get involved.

I'll always remember a time when a good handful of our group here was at TWC boards and before the admin there pulled the Off-Topic...before the forum was recently re-instated but not by this same admin who now has left TWC from what I've heard in the past. Anyway, there was a troublemaker there who was trying to give Hades to us who posted at a Pot-Belly/Front Porch (depending on season) topic...this person and I got into it and I was on the verge of wanting to like lasso this guy to the ground...fortunately some other Wxbuds intervened, too, and this guy soon became history in knowing that he was messing with the wrong kind of peeps who just wanted to enjoy fun and fellowship on a wx site!

As long as you are able to separate the pair, that'll do...but leave them together, and all of a sudden, YOU (Officer) become "the enemy". NEVER answer a domestic call without at least another car and supervisory backup!

Absoulely NOT......we ALWAYS respond with 2 units, possibly 3 if they are repeat offenders, which is the case 99.90% of the time, WHY of WHY do women who are beaten on a REGULAR bases "Keep comin' back for MORE?" Don't understand

Because their abusers have convinced them (a) there's nowhere to go, (b) they'll "kill" them if they ever try, or (c) they are already preconditioned to accepting abuse (parents, former male companions).

I have to bite my tongue at work sometimes. No choice there. Here sometimes I have to think carefully before I post something so I do not run afoul of the mod squad

Several times thus far this season, I have seen folks slammed pretty hard by the Mets for their opinion on a system, and it's intensification, projected track, etc. I thought it was understood that the "Talkin' Tropics" section was for just that, talkin' tropics, a place for the amateurs to kick around ideas about the tropical weather. Some of the qualified folks are spending more time shooting down the amateurs than posting in the "Tropical Analysis" section, where we all know to go for the them to post qualified forecasts and opinions.
I for one enjoy reading the varied opinions and views/theories, and many times they are right. I will admit that sometimes posts are out in left field, but if I want the straight scoop, I'll go to the "Tropical Analysis" section. Problem is, at an average of only 1.96 topics started a day, the officail scoop on things is a bit scarce.
OK, I'm getting long winded, but my pet peeve is mets bashing the amateurs.
My suggestion is to get the mets to take all that time and energy and use the "Tropical Analysis" section to give us the straight scoop. If you see something you don't agree with, start a topic giving us your educated view and resist the urge to take a negative shot at any amateur that you feel may be wrong. Oh yeah, and if that amateur that you slam turns out to be right, and you are wrong, re-visit the thread and say as much.
Geez, this sounds so negative, but I have had to bite my tounge so to speak, on a couple of occasions this season due to an amateur being rudely treated by a particular met. Sad thing, the amateur was 100% correct, and I never saw a follow-up post from the met acknowledging it.
Let's be nice folks
