Have you ever had a good friend, maybe a long time friend, who did something to you that shocked you? And, this made you leery of him/her the rest of your life to the point you just never trusted him/her again.

My best friend for several years really did something to shock me. I went out with a new guy for a couple times. Things went ok. I introduced him to my girlfriend one day and to my shock, she called me one day and said he asked her out. What? Came to find out, she called him one night to chat. She said she was sorry, but only did it cause I told her he was nice, but I was not really impressed to the point where I wanted a long relationship, more just a friend from him. She picked up on this and decided she would like to see what kind of guy he was.

I was so shocked that a good friend of mine would go behind my back and call a guy I was dating so she could have a chance at him too.

This put a huge dent in our relationship. I never trusted her again and she sure never met anyone I dated from that point.

Hmmm...but you told her you weren't interested in him as anything but a friend, right? I guess I don't understand why you term you and the guy as 'dating' if you aren't impressed with him enough to keep him around for a long relationship and only want to be friends.

Now, semantics out of the way, yes, your friend should have said, "Hey, if you're not that interested in him, mind if I call him?" But--and this is solely from what you've said in your post, as I don't know you or your friend--it seems this may have been a case of miscommunication between the two of you.

I'm sorry you lost a friendship over a guy, that always stinks. Trust is such a fragile thing.

No matter what my feelings towards him, she should have asked me first. Once a person does something behind your back, you can not trust them again.
