8 days?? He did get off easy.. What is he going to apeal?? Even if it was an honest mistake, he still broke a BIG rule... Needs to just except punishment and blame and just let the matter close without drawing anymore attention to in... JMO

I thought that the bats that were confiscated were negative of any cork. Did I miss something?

It seems everyone has always got to play that friggin race card from this to the NY Times debacle.....................One big reason i am in support of abolishing the affimitive action crap.............

The reason he's appealing I would believe is that the Yankees are coming to his town and he wants to play them and probably so do the television stations that'll broadcast the games. Then he'll probably just drop the appeal.
Sammy, take you medicine and move on.

yup your right on the apeal reason hunter.. My point was he has been an idle to so many kids, and he should continue to be so in this situation.. show them even though it was an honest mistake, the rule was still broken and punishment needs to be excepted..

Heres to you Sammy

Hope this gets barried quickly for you

He needs to take his punishment and move on. I like Sammy, but I don't think the race card works here.

Sammy will never be able to live this out. To the public, he's been exposed as a fraud. Remember Mark Maguire? When it was discovered that he used steroids, he basically faded from the baseball spotlight.

Your right Chad it shouldn't hurt his reputation at all. Tha thing that confuses me with this is , that bat that broke is the only 2-tone bat he has. How can you mistake it for one of your solid toned bats that you've always used. I can see why he would have it 2 toned so it would stick out in his locker or where ever they are kept . but how do you forget that, Oh this ones corked I can't use this one.
but he'll be fine. he's not on your team is he? One can only hope.

Oh come on Pedro Martinez! This has nothing to do with Sammy's race...puh-leez! Besides, the media loves Sammy but they of course they're going to report this kind of thing. And it makes no difference if he's black, white, red, green, or purple!
Anyway, I like Sammy too but he should take his punishment and as quietly as possible and hopefully let this just run its course and die out soon. This isn't exactly good for all of baseball but obviously worse for Sosa. Accident or not, he still broke the rule and must now face the consequences. Appealing the decision will only prolong the matter and he won't win the appeal anyway.
I don't know about you but I'm already tired of it monopolizing Sportscenter.

Agree 100%. He should serve the suspension and move on.
