The Kudos to CNN (i.e., CNN RULES!) thread!

Well other cable networks air storm stories and report on the latest fascinating high speed car chase, CNN is pounding the competition into the ground with their Hurricane coverage. They are already providing hourly reports on Hurricane Emily and they have gone into their "CNN, Your Hurricane Headquarters" mode.

Both of their mets today, Jill Brown (last name correct?) and Rob Marciano are superb. They mention about the recon flights and talk about the storm's satelite signature and outflow, etc. They are great.

I think the reason for this is that all of CNN's mets are AMS certified. This is what allows them to provide such strong coverage, IMO.

What really impresses me is that they have already made Emily the top story and are helping inform people of the situation early on.

Now, with Rick Sanchez and hurricane 1, CNN is putting TWC to shame and TWC is supposed to be about the weather for heaven's sake!

CNN has always had a strong hurricane team with Jeff Flock, John Zarella, Gary Tuchman but now with the addition of some very strong mets (Orleon Sydney and Jaquie Jeras too) and Anderson Cooper, whenever a major hurricane bears down on North America, I know who I am going to turn to.

So, once again, kudos to CNN!! :D

I'm still cheering for the Ramada sign. Maybe if we can send back the time machine, it can take out Cooper and find the Fox van somewhere farther up the street :0

No matter what the news network...I'd never want to see an employee injured or killed.

LOL... me too.

I did notice TWC calling themselves "Your hurricane HQ", 2 days after CNN called themselves that. The battle is on between the Atlanta-based stations. :D

Feederband, why do you hate CNN? Aaron Brown, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper and Paula Zahn are all VERY very conservative republicans. That's essentially their entire primetime lineup. Anyway.....I disgress.

I just wanted to post that CNN outdid themselves again tonight during their 10 pm newscast. They had Karl Penhaul in Cancun, Mexico reporting on how government officials are telling tourists to GET out and they had a very comprehensive report from Rob Marciano in the weather center and this is all 2-3 days out:)

I guess last year woke all of the media up to the danger of hurricanes.

I just quit watching them years ago and found myself preferring Fox. I am x military and just hear to many negatives on CNN about all the things that are going on in the world today. They just seem so one sided on things compared to Fox. Fox always have both sides so you can decide for yourself on whats really going on...

Thats my point no one is yelling the other side on cnn..Fox usally has two people from both side of the spectrum. You just have to decide on which side you are on..

Ummm, CNN's Anderson Cooper is far from conservative. Trust me, I know! ;)

And concerning the slogan war between TWC and CNN... TWC comes out with this new slogan saying "Your hurricane headquarters for over 20 years". What TWC failed to remember is that CNN has been covering hurricanes for a little over 25 years now, so CNN has been around longer. lol

By the way, CNN has had the most superior coverage to date of hurricanes this season. And I missed Jill Brown? Dang it!!!!

LOL Garrett about Jill Brown :D As far as Anderson Cooper, though, I searched a campaign donation website once and there was a donation listed there from him to a republican congressional candidate. Also, his sister who died from cancer got to meet Pres. Reagan while he was in the White House and he seemed quite grateful about that but that doesn't mean he's a republican to be sure. Because of this, I just assumed he was most likely a republican.

How did you find out he's not a conservative? I'm shocked about that.

Cycloneeye, hopefully they're both in Cancun and Cozumel. With the videophone technology, they should be able to be. I hope they are willing to devote the resources to such.

FOX not one sided??? FOX is "Fair and Balanced"???? Hhahahahahah !
You MUST be joking!!!! Sure they have two people appear, but the liberal side always gets shut down, shouted over, talked down to and belittled. IMO Fox is a disgrace to the profession of journalism. It is Info-tainment.

That is because you are so used to hearing one sided news for so long. Then along comes Fox giving you fair and balanced and BOOM you think they are one sided.

Getting back on topic, I agree with Jason, CNN did very well with their hurricane coverage. They get a kudos from me.

Sigh. They are not fair and balanced. NONE of the networks or cable news are. They are all quite slanted.

Now that I'll agree with :)

Agree I think I will watch CNN from now on hurricane events...I'll watch Fox for the real news ...I'm tired of all the Bush bashing, anti war jokers from CNN...Then again it is my opinion. And its OK not to agree with me for I am fair and balanced...
