That is disgusting. I am Baptist, and our whole church is very much pro-military, and our military is prayed for regularly. I don't know any Baptists who would condone this kind of disgusting behavior.

Most wouldn't. Phelps is a very special kind of buttmunch. He's got a tiny following, but a very loud mouth and he knows the media will pick up what he says and does because it's so outrageous. He has co-opted the words "Baptist" and "God" with absolutely no intent of serving either institution/ideology.

Methinks the Big Guy's face reddens when Phelps uses his name to bolster his hatred of everyone and everything. If Phelps keeps this up I would not be surprised to hear of his demise in some dark corner of the world at the hands of some very angry veterans.

Unfortunately that would likely make him a martyr to his nutjob followers, who would do who knows what in the aftermath. Sigh.

If they are so smart why do they not see the fact the only reason that they can act so disgusitingly is because THAT SOLDIER DIED TO DEFEND THEIR FREEDOMS!!!!!

When you praise the death of your countrymen, you become in my mind a traitor. He should be tarred and feathered, it would be completely just though illegal.

They cannot truly think that they are genuine christians. Jesus specifically told the jews that if a roman soldier demanded their service they should do it twice over. There is no place in christianity for this kind of hatred.

They DO make themselves like the mujahadeen. And the wonder of it is, how do people with the prosperity and safety this country gives us, become so demented?

Phelps, and those who follow him, won't answer to us, of course; but there is a Judge Who will hear them, and from His Court there will be NO appeal.

I think this group needs a swift kick in reality.

There is no doubt in this Great country of ours that we enjoy the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech and the freedom to assemble and protest. But how crass and cold hearted it is to protest the war at a soldiers funeral. My heart goes out to the family of this young serviceman who were subjected to this ungodly display by a group of brainwashed fanatical idiots!!! IF Phelps wants to protest the war then he and his group can do by it by protesting in front of the White house. But in my opinion he served the devil not God by protesting at a time and place that was reserved for a grieving family. What a disgusting individual Phelps is and I turn a deaf ear to what he spews from his irrational mouth!!
