When they tare it down when it get to old and expensive to maintain I'm going to be bumed out to badly

I could go on and on about what I know about that bridge and what it is like on it and how cool it is "sigh" but i'll save you the trouble and not

What is your fav landmark? and if you don't have one what is the one that you know the most about?

I too love the Mackinaw Bridge, it is so majestic. I'm from Michigan and have a brother in Mackinaw City. I cross that bridge and turn around and go back over it just to go across it when I visit him.

But I also love the Statute of Liberty especially for what it stands for. When my great frandfather came to this country at the turn of the century I often wonder what he thought of when he first saw her standing out in the New York harbor like a beacon of freedom, it must have meant so much to him to see her for the first time!!

It's gotta be the Gateway Arch in St. Louis; I'm still waiting for East St. Louis IL to build a giant ball and croquet mallet to match. :larrow:

All things considered, a giant English riding boot would work, too.

Hey, I watched them build the thing; my signature (and those of all of my 1961 third-grade classmates, plus every other schoolkid in the area) are in a time capsule under one of its legs. I was in high school when they dropped the keystone piece between the north and south legs, and my Dad was at the opening in 1969.

I'm "entitled".

Me too....I visited them once, in 1993, 8 months after the bombing.

And I still gasp outloud when I see the Twin Towers, in movies or TV show backdrops.

My daughter recently recorded Home Alone 2, Lost in NYC. I had forgotten young main character Kevin McAllister visits the WTC and is filmed atop the outside observation deck. At one time I had heard there was a push to remove scenes or footage of the WTC but now I'm glad they left them in.

We need to see the WTC, for years to come. Personally, it helps me come to terms with that awful day. Sometimes you imagine it was all a bad dream but it's also comforting, when they're mentioned in movies or shown in them.

I wouldn't have said the TWC were my favorites though. Probably the Statue of Liberty, the St. Louis Arch (never been there) or the Seattle Space Needle (never been there either) are very majestic to me.
