DALLAS -- Health officials say a Richardson man, who was bitten by mosquitoes during yard work, has tested positive for West Nile virus.

The Dallas County Health and Human Services office held a news conference Monday morning to announce they are investigating the partial human case of the virus.

Doctors say that initial tests on that patient tested positive for West Nile virus. The test has been sent to the Texas Department of Health for confirmation.

The patient is currently at home recovering from the illness.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Protection, mosquitoes are the primary carriers of the West Nile virus.

The Dallas County Health and Human Services office has been working on the matter with the City of Richardson, which has implemented mosquito control measures to help protect the public.

If confirmed, this would be the first human case of West Nile virus in Texas this year.

Oh no...here we go. :(

The ONLY good thing about being in a severe drought right now is the lack of mosquitoes. We're usually breeding them in our yards by now.
