BoyCott Gas on Laber Day weekend by not buying Gas on the weekend like on saturday,sunday,and monday to see is it will affect the gas prices and i am sure it will so when Laber Day weekend comes around then BOYCOTTS the gas prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Think about it if a major hurricane threaten then what are you going to do when there is no gas??????????????????

I'm going to pipe up now and say this:

Boycotting gas for a weekend won't help the gas prices. Why? Because just as the weekend is over, we'll all run to the gas station to fuel up. Then, because the demand increases, so will the price thus cancelling out the affect of boycotting.

Instead... how about supporting carpooling on an everyday basis or using public transportation? How about trading in the gus-guzzler for an economical car? If not... then enjoy the high gas prices.

No way, I'm missing my vacation. So yes, I am driving that weekend.

I'll say no for the same reason as above, but I'd like say lets vote out all the elected officials that veto building nuclear power plants and oil refineries and why can't we open up Alaskan oil fields without messing up the environment.

Carpooling and/or public transportation is a great idea; my wife and I are already doing so.

Since you broached the subject, may I add a little caveat that's close to my heart? When you decide to purchase gas for your vehicles, do you give any thought as to where the il comes from, and who you may be supporting??? We're in a war, but most of the large corporations buy their oil from countries (Saudi Arabia for example ) who either directly or indirectly support the causes that are killing our brave men and women in the Armed Forces as they put it all on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan . PLEASE think before you buy!

The US Department of Energy has a website that breaks down where the gas you put in your car comes from. The two companies I purchase from (Citgo and Hess) make great gasoline (believe me, I'm picky about what I put in "ole Betsy") from non - Middle Eastern oil sources! Support our Troops and buy wisely!!!

Why is gas high? Blame the Commander in Chief. He's in charge. Things are bad and the Bush administration continues to make them worse. Just give it a week and they will have yet another excuse for high gas prices and the Iraq War.

I agree we all should boycott gasoline for the Labor Day weekend. The oil companies are sticking it to us big time. Did you guys know the most profitable companies in the U.S. were the oil the companies? I wonder why?

Because we CAN'T open up Alaskan oil fields without messing up the environment!!! Besides, even the oil companies admit there is little to be gained from ANWR; they're using this as an excuse to open up offshore drilling on the East Coast!

You are 100% correct. The consumers who purchase those 12mph Hummers and other gas guzzling monsters are also to blame. Why in the world you need a TANK to go to work in by yourself is beyond my comprehension?!?!?!?!?

sorry, boycotting for one weekend wont work....it needs to be a long span of time..with a large majority of the nation. One weekend is a drop in the bucket, they will stick it out and it will be overwith, no problem for the oil giants.

I think there will be alot of SUV's that get sold, traded in or repossessed here soon. I think you may see a tread in people buying more economically efficient and more environmental friendly automobiles if the gas prices stay this high. If the demand for fuel goes down maybe the prices will, so the best thing to do is conserve fuel. Everyone boycotting for a couple of days wont make the difference the difference will be seen if less fuel is bought over a long period of time. Do what you can to conserve fuel is the best way I can imagine to get the message across that we want lower prices!!

But I will say...2.73 a frickin' gallon?! That's ridiculous.

Actually many months ago some company did a study and they found out that if ALL americans didn't fill up their vehicles for just ONE day the price of a barrel of oil would drop significantly.
I think we fail to realize just how much fuel americans alone consume worldwide daily. We won't even go into how much food we WASTE in this country everyday because that is just to depressing.

A weekend boycott will do nothing. What are you going to do? Fill up ahead of time so you don't have to buy during the boycott? If you want to make a difference, you have to make a permanent change in you driving patterns. I happen to sell gas for a living. We, the retailers don't make a lot per gallon. Maybe the major oil companies do. But the real problem is the arabs, I don't think their cost of living has gone up as far as their oil increases. They are going to raise their prices as high as they can until the demand falls. It's simple economics: supply and demand. Gas is an inelastic product. (As price goes up, demand stays fairly consistent) Unlike say.....yachts, chocolate, consumer electronics, etc. When their prices rise, you may buy less, creating less demand, thus lowering their prices to acceptable levels.

American drives to excess that's for sure. But Bush is an oil man. And most of the people in the Bush administration have connection to big oil. And they invaded a country that had oil (after lying about why we needed to go there), screwed it up once we got there and now there is not as much oil coming out of Iraq because of the bloody insurgency -- in fact Iraqis wait in line for gasoline themselves. Plus, to pay for the war we are borrowing billions from China and helping to boost China's economy at the same time. China's success is also increasing the demand for oil which also helps rise the cost of our gasoline.
