Beaumont police have arrested a woman they say left a two year old child in a car for 45 minutes.
Police say it happened at about 8:50 last night at the Super Wal-Mart store on Dowlen Road.
Police say a customer was getting out of her car and heard a child crying. She saw a child strapped into a car seat in a mini-van.
The Beaumont Fire Department was called, and had to force open the door of the Dodge mini-van.
The child was sweating profusely.
Beaumont paramedics treated the 2 year old boy at the scene. The child was okay.
Police went into the store and found the 22 year old mother with two other children, a 4 year old boy and a 2 month old girl.
Police say they arrested the mother on charges of child endangerment and took her to jail.
Child Protective Services took custody of the two year old and the other children.
Police remind parents never to leave children alone in a car at a shopping center, especially during the hot summer months when temperatures inside vehicles often exceed 100 degrees.
