You know, in this selfish (cautiously optomistic) worrying I've been doing about Ophelia, it just now occured to me - there are kids who just got evacuated here from Katrina. They have been through so much already and I am sure a thunderstorm would frighten them, let alone whatever Ophelia turns out to be. At least this would only be the first time for me and I am an adult who is (somewhat..hahaha) well adjusted. Just another reason I hope she goes out to sea.

Hopefully somehow some way...she won't become a Cat 1 again...like yesterday...stay just a TS as she is today...because the Carolinas need the rain...stubborn HIGH days on end of no rain is starting to wear...at least no rain in the foreseeable forecast future for Raleigh as of yesterday...and we have evacuees here, too, in the Triangle area.

I have a friend in KY who survived Andrew. To this day, she still hates thunderstorms.

I can only imagine how traumatic it would be for kids, just two weeks later.

I didn't realize you had evacuees up there too. Well, my fingers are crossed for all who may be in Ophelia's sights.

Earlier this week I read on the WRAL-TV5 site that we have 30 evacuated children enrolled here in Raleigh schools. :)

Well...it's a CAT 1 again. Just in from the NHC. I don't like this at all!
