A first that i've seen...

#1 Postby David » Wed Jun 18, 2003 11:40 pm

A news reporter from my local TV station volenteered for a drinking expierement with 3 other ladies. They took sibriety(sp) test, breathelizer tests, etc. Took 5 drinks to get her above the illegal limit.

The funny thing was at the end she says "So, to sum it up, i'm legally drunk!" It's not every day you see a TV reporter drunk on TV. Hehe. She even knew her name, station identification, and city. (Sherrine Jones, 27 News, Topeka).

Just thought i'd share this useless information with you. ;)

I don't think it is useless information. David, I think it is a piece of interesting information to share with us.

As for the TV reporter drinking to become legally drunk was an odd position to put herself in. I would hope if she didn't take the assignment, she wouldn't of been reprimanded in any way.

Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses, I'll drink to that LOL! Sorry couldn't resist that one.

It torques my shorts to see this happen, everyone's different, we all have different tolerances to alcohol, I know for a fact, I've done the test at a party put on by a fellow reserve officer "AHEM!" I had 4 beers and I blew a .05....well below the legal limits when another reserve officer drank 3 beers and he blew a .12 well ABOVE the legal limits.

A few months back, we had the same thing go on with a T.V. reporter and a newspaper reporter. It was done in conjunction with Mothers Against Drunk Drivers promotion.

Interesting that they would actually show that on TV. For many years it was absolutely taboo to show any real alcohol (or their containers) on TV.

I've never been tested with a breathelizer, but I can tell you this. Instead of having me blow in a little tube...if the officer would just count how often I head to the bathroom, I think he would be able to make his case.

After three beers for me (which is VERY rare), there seems to be one full gallon passing through for every 8 oz I drink. Although I would not try it, I think I could fill a pool on a six pack!

It's true that different people tolerate...or "absorb" alcohol
differently. I use to do breath alcohol tests at our regional
hospital, and, it's interesting to see the variations with the same
amount of alcohol.
