Mokeypox Cases Rise
June 19, 2003
(Madison-AP) -- Two more people in Wisconsin are confirmed to have the monkeypox virus.
That brings the total confirmed cases in Wisconsin to nine. Thirty more people are suspected of having the disease.
Meanwhile, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention said today at least 87 people in six states have shown symptoms associated with the virus.
Nearly a quarter of those have been confirmed by lab analysis.

Only 1 in KS so far... dunno what her home city is yet. If it's Topeka I don't know what i'm going to do, but all I know is I know NO prarie dogs, so I should be safe.

in actuality, it's not a deadly disease...if you catch the symptoms early and get the small pox vaccine, you'll be fine.

Needles aren't that bad...come give plasma with me...those needles are larger than normal needles

If it goes that far down then ummmm no, I'm not giving plasma. I doubt I can give blood anyway because of my meds.

Interesting how these new diseases are coming out now.
On the topic of plasma and blood. I am not one for needles. However, one of the shots I got in 6th grade (in the mid to late 1980's) didn't feel like the doctor gave it to me. I haven't given blood since before I moved from Massachusetts to Florida, which is about 4 years ago.
I cannot give blood... to the Red Cross, because I don't weigh enough. Which is fine by me. No offense, of course.

Josh, it depends on where your veins are located. Normally, for me, the needle barely goes in...and it depends on who 'sticks' you...some are painful, others you barely feel!

When I give blood for med work, sometimes I have rolling veins; i.e. my veins move when they stick the needle in me. That hurts because then they have to poke me yet again.
What I was originally referring to is donating blood to the Red Cross and such.

oh... my vein my right arm is like that...it tends to move just before the nurses stick the needle in. Its also really small, which means its hard to hit.

I know that Missouri has now confirmed its first official case of Monkeypox and that the woman from KS got it from the same prarie dog as he did.
As far as needles are concerned...they don't bother me.

Prairie dogs in Thornton, Co. Have been identified as carrying the Bubonic Plaque. But thanks to PETA and groups such as those, they cannot be moved to develop the land, so the Bubonic Plaque will be there for awhile. It makes me shake my head the way these idiots value the lives of animals over human life. Not that animal life is not valuable. Its just that it is nuts in my opinion.

Hope this disease doesn't spread any further... we've had enough problems with SARS and other spreading diseases that we really don't need any more...
Thank God that SARS is now gone for the time being... hopefully it'll be gone forever.
