Police: Man Uses Shock Collar On Child For Eating Slowly

!!!!
UPDATED: 1:35 pm EDT October 13, 2005
JACKSON, Wis. -- A Wisconsin man is accused of using an electric shock collar on his 8-year-old stepdaughter.
Gerald Majeres, 34, of Jackson, was charged with felony child abuse.
A criminal complaint said Majeres attached the electric dog collar to his stepdaughter's leg and shocked her because she was eating her breakfast too slowly.
The girl told investigators she cried a lot because it hurt a lot.
A staff member at the girl's school noticed marks on the girl's thigh and contacted police and social services.
Police said the girl's mother threatened to wake up the stepfather if the girl didn't hurry with her breakfast. The mother then did just that and the stepfather got out the electric collar, police said.
The girl's mother reportedly told police that her daughter is a liar, and that she nor the girl's birth father want her anymore. The girl is now in foster care.
Majeres is scheduled to be back in court Oct. 17. He has been ordered to not have contact with the child.

With a family like that she is better off without them; I can't imagine what kind of parent could SAY and DO something like that!
My kids will get extra hugs tonight.

Oh, but how many times I have joked about using shocks to get my kids moving. Not eating, but getting them up to do what they were told. Just a little zap. But, good lord! I would never actually do it!!!!!

Well, yeah; I think we all have those thoughts once in awhile

; I know I lose my temper too often some days with my kids when they are deliberately pushing my buttons; BUT my kids also know that I love them more than anything else on earth.

My heart truly breaks when I hear of such things. If it saddens us and makes us angry, I do not want to even begin to think how God must feel. Children are gifts from Him...

Why did she keep this child to begin with? Should have gave her up at birth. She obviously has better things to do with her life than be bothered by her own flesh and blood, her child.

Ewww that makes me so angry. Well I too am glad she is out of their care. My god this child much feel like she is worthless. I too get short with my children and over react sometimes out of frustration. But they are mine, and they know how much they are loved. Hopefully she finds someone to give her the love she deserves, all children deserve love.

@&*#$%$#@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope and pray that that little girl stays safe......that the system works for her and she is taken in by a family that can show her what a family REALLY is supposed to be.
Its sad how many adults (I won't call them parents) treat their children worse than dogs..... if you can't be bothered to love your child, let somebody else do it ....... no one deserves to feel that kind of rejection.
But it happens.....every day.
Disgusting.
I better stop....nothing else I could say would be G-rated.....

I think that a MUCH smaller, but more powerful collar should be part of this stepfather's sentencing...I leave its placement to your imagination.
Every hour, on the hour, for the next 20 years while in prison would do it.

Whoa - these electric dog collars do hurt - a lot!
I know b/c I accidentally shocked myself.....let me explain. We have an instant, plug in fence. It emits a circular 90 foot signal. The box has to go inside so it's in the middle of our home/property. Our dog has plenty of roaming but there's one spot near our TV that it goes off. We've never been sure why. She only wears it to go outside, we usually take it off and hang it on the doorknob. I had taken it off her, it was in my hand, I had to eject a DVD so I walked over to the TV. I had a finger in between the two prongs, dumb-dumb. Instead of holding the collar by the fabric part. Well, it beeped many times, then shocked me, but worse than that, it hurt so bad, it seemed to keep shocking me, my hand shook! It freaked the dog out, she ran and hid in the laundry room, I flung her collar across the room, it hurt so bad. That's when I hugged her tight and said we'd only use in the yard. And all she has to do it hear the beep, long before the shock comes, to stay in our yard.
That man is just sick. I've heard of college kids getting drunk and wearing one, on a dare. But this is a new low for child abuse. I hope they throw the book at him. And shame on the 'mother'......that poor little girl.
And finally, you are supposed to eat slow!

That is so revolting. Sometimes things are so flabergasting it leaves me tongue tied. 3 Cheers for the observant school employee!
