I sprained my ankle last night

Last night while I was walking in my room, I heard this loud cracking noise in my left ankle; accompanied by large pain and a near fall to the floor. I almost couldn't walk from then until just now. Even now it hurts but not as bad. This morning when I went into work, I had the RN there look at it and she said it looks like a bad sprain (and I think it is since my left ankle is very largely swollen at this time

). I had someone give me a ride to and from work today, because I have missed so many days of work lately that I wasn't about to miss another. I would like it if you could all pray for my ankle to heal quickly. Thanks!

Josh, welcome to my shoes! Sprain ankles are the norm for me.
Hope you ankle 'hops' on the get well train.

I hope you feel better Josh but if i were you i'd go and get it checked out with an x-ray or something it could be more then a basic spriane.

Joshua, I hope all goes well with your sprained ankle. The RN at your work didn't say to get it checked out further?

Tom, she said it's likely a sprain and if it doesn't get better in a couple of days then I can go to the doctor.

You poor guy! You've been having a string of bad luck lately! I hope it gets better real soon! Remember though, even though it may feel okay, it may not be 100% yet.

Josh, if elevating the foot and ice packs don't help in a
few days, you go to the doc for an x-ray!
BTW, can you wiggle your toes?

Sorry to hear, Joshua. I would say "ouch" as well, but I imagine if I actually sprained or broke my ankle, I would be saying something else

. Anyways, the human body is quite an amazing machine and so it will heal and all will be good again (at least for your ankle).

Yes the toes are movable. I take it that's a good sign.

Hey Josh, I'm praying for you buddy....I know what your experiencing (tripped and fell down the back steps last summer; sprained my left foot and right shoulder...at the same time..ouch!).
Keep your ankle well iced...and occasionally massage it using rubbing (Isoprophyl) alcohol. It worked wonders on mine.
Best wishes on a speedy recovery!

On the subject of ibuprofen... the two times I took Advil I broke out in hives. So, no ibuprofen for me.
Pawlee, not to be annoyingly picky with your choice of words, but hopefully no one munches on ibuprofen and other medications. The reason I say this is because I have heard people say that letting antacid dissolve in their mouth than chewing them.
