finished shopping? HA!

Theresa is doing her best at looking thru the catalogs, saying "Look at this Hon!" and I am doing my best at ignoring it.

After my father died in 2002, my Mama's income went to
the dogs, and, we all decided, as grownups, that we would
not do Christmas presents, opting for her to cook a big
country breakfast for us, instead. We all chip in and buy
the goods, and, she cooks. Now - there's exceptions -
me and my two older brothers get Mama a gift certificate
for $150.00 to shop for clothes at a local store. Plus, my
neice married a gentleman with a 3-yr.old, so, the little
fellow gets gifts. Other than that, we eat and enjoy each
other's company. LOL, got it made.....

I have made a start on my Chrismas shopping. I have gotten my 5 yr old grandson a blanket he wantedand a robot, gotten the new grandson a toy that has blocks that roll thru it nad come out the other end and makes a sound. I also got a package of extra blocks for it plus a electronic key chain for him. It has a light and sounds when the buttons on it are pushed and has 3 metal keys on it. Got to get it in the mail soon for him. For oldest son, a manicure set he wanted and a money folder. Daughter has a money folder and nothing else yet. Youngest son will get just money since he is currently over in the Persian Gulf on the Theodore Roosevelt. He asked us to send him some money to put in his account on ship. Ship will pay bigger interest than bank will. I have a bottle of cologne for my hubby, a favorite scent he likes.

Got mine done in October but as usual when I shop early I keep finding the perfect gift! I should be a professional shopper I swear I can find the best stuff. Anyone need hints I probably can come up with something.

I have started and this year I have been told to avoid the "gift wrap" option.

Have I got my Christmas shopping done yet? You're kidding, right??

Maybe I'll just take all the things I packed up for the evacuation, wrap the boxes in pretty paper, slap a bow on it, and give 'em to my relatives.

Sure wish I could say I'm nearly done but I barely started a few weeks ago. For some reason I just can't quite get into the swing of things, xmas-related. I know it's coming but I'm not on that xmas-treadmill yet. I will be, no doubt. LOL

I vowed to be completely done by Dec. 15, 20th at the very latest. Last year, we got caught in a terrible traffic jam, on Dec. 24th just trying to get out of a shopping center parking lot. This was after Cincy got slammed by a big snowstorm but on top of that, we had several inches of freezing rain. Routes in and out of parking lots and shopping centers were reduced to 1/4th what they should be at best. When we got home from running just one more 'quick errand' for xmas, it was hours later and we said - never again! We still talk about that traffic jam.....it was just nuts, we saw people driving over snowdrifts, high curbs if they had SUV's, just 4 wheeling it to get out of there. Luckily no one hit our car! It was a tense few hours.
