Last night in Miami, the high school that my kids went to, Lakeland Senior High, the Dreadnaughts played St Thomas Aquainias of Ft Lauderdale for the national high school championship. Lakeland had been rated the No.1 team in the nation by USA Today. The score of the game was 39-10, Lakeland won. If you would like to check out the team, go to the website of our local paper the Ledger. They are the Front page article. http://www.The Ledger.com

Congratulations to Lakeland Dreadnoughts! :D :D :D :D

I recall what it was like...I was a ML (middle linebacker, "noseguard") on the 1968-1969 Class 4A (read: huge schools) Missouri State Champion Mc Cluer Comets team.

And I will never forget how the sports pages refered to us both years as the "Cinderella Comets"...outweighed 40-50 lbs. per player against high-scoring (45 points average) Kansas City teams, yet we were the top defensive team those years, giving up 0.03 points per game.

DEFINITELY showing my age here... :(

Congratulations...you have a reason to feel proud! Those are not easy accomplishments!

And Bill...a belated congratulations to you as well!!!

My father still jokes today that he was on the "worst" football team there ever was.

After going 0-9 and never scoring a point, I have found few people who would challenge his assessment! I have the yearbook photo and page to prove it!

But, he was so angry about it, he went out and became a regional Golden Gloves contender after high school!
