Hello from Arizona.

I know it has probably been posted on here before, but ever since I noticed Google Earth (or a very similar program) being used to zoom in on various specific locations when news breaks, I installed it on my computer and have found it quite an interesting tool.

While it is not perfected for every location, and it certainly isn't absolutely current for every photo, I can only imagine how impressed my former college geography professor would have been had this tool been around back then.

So, if you haven't done it...check out Google Earth...download it to your system, and type in an address or two.

If anyone wants to try it, I'll share my home address and you can actually zoom in on my neighborhood and see the trucks that belonged to the three different groups of guys who were working on our swimming pool a year ago!

Steve, did you know that someone has put together a great .kmz file for Google Earth that plots tropical storm models, includes satellite map and SST overlays, etc. all on Google Earth? It's awesome.

There's all kinds of applications people have put together for it. I lurvs it.

I love it, and the layers that can be added make it even better. When you can see the rest of the world in as much detail as you can the US or UK it will be even better.

It is a great tool for wasting a few hours!!

I'll plop myself out in the middle of nowhere, zoom way in and try to find my way home.

I can even see myself on there! Hi me!! (j/k!)

James of S2k was telling me about it a few months ago, although it's sometimes hard to see the buildings in other countries. I was using it for a time at a college library until it was deleted.
