It's a good thing the indians didn't say that when the Europeans showed up.
Without Mexican labor, our economy would collapse. teh answer is to legalize all Mexican (and IMHO all North American) immigration into the US. Make it easy and free to come in as long as they come through established border crossings and come to work. The immigration isn't going to stop. it's about time we tap it for taxation. Regulation will become much easier too.

I agree gtalum......we should tap it for taxation..........but didnt we give Mexico a chance many years ago? I know we sure didnt give the Indians any chance when we came over here.

as far as work goes.........some of those people are paid so poorly......they end up doing most of the jobs most U.S. citizens wont do.......i guess the gov't would just rather pay them welfare

...........ahhhhhhhh the land of the free.....

I can't disagree. Get them legal, get them paying taxes, and enforce the minimum wages. I'd even go for a sub-minimum wage for these "commuters" Register them, give them electronic ID cards that have to be scanned at the crossing (like an EZ pass) and have their employer scan it too. Channel them all to established crossing points that are designed to handle large numbers. Then build a 20-foot high electrified fence with concertina wire, electronic surveillience, and heavily armed guards with armored vehicles from the Atlantic to the Pacific. You could throw in the land mines too.

I have a better solution. Tell the south the "CIVIL WAR" is over and then they will realize that this is the land of OPPORTUNITY AND LIBERTY.

Being from the "south" I find your remark somewhat offensive crazy....
And blah blah blah, we know you like to stir the pot. Maybe you should educate yourself on the problems with respect to the issue of immigration.
I totally disagree with this specific idea, though this is not our undertaking. I do like the ideas that gtlaum brought up.

Stratos, it was a poke, plus your from Texas, I could never disrespect another Texan. I understand immigration more than you think. You might want to rephrase the education part. I am hispanic with 3.5 classes to go in completing my Masters.

There is definately a need for control of the immigration situation for national security and because there's alot of governmental services going to these illegal immigrants. We should try and get back some of these costs through taxation of their wages or something.
I understand the reasoning for the maps and I think it is a humane thing to do even for THEIR government. I also believe that our economy needs the cheap labor because, quite frankly, noone else wants to do those jobs nor will the companies want to OR will be able to (take your pick) pay the minimum wage to US citizens to get the work done.

This is one of several reasons that I suggest offering free entry to all North Americans. WHen you legalize them, their wages become taxable.

The Mexicans are here helping to rebuild the Mississippi Coast. They seem to be hard workers, willing to do jobs no American will take. The unemployment rate here is over 20%. Most of the Americans are content to sit back and draw their unemployment check until it runs out in March and then they will likely complain for an extension. The line at the Wal Mart is full of Mexicans wiring money back home. I just wonder how many of them are here legally and if any of them are paying income taxes?.......MGC

Yea that is the problem they are very hard workers and will work for half the money as we do. I find this to be a very big problem. My husband has seen alot of mexicans move in and take alot of jobs away from people he knows and put them out of work because they will work for half the money and work hard. I have not a problem with them coming here and working as long as minimun wage is enforced and all is equal playing ground. I know alot of them are illegal and are just here to make money and send it home to their families. The little bit they are getting paid goes a long way over there. I tend not to agree with the distrubution of these maps, without other things taken place as others have mentioned above, they need to be legal.
