A tragic hit and run incident involving 2 boats on the Ohio River in Cincinnati over the weekend. What is with people? How can you just run over another boat, barely slow down, and then just take off? Thankfully no one was killed. What a shocking story though. Reminds me of the woman who hit a homeless man and left him for dead in her garage, sadly trapped inside her windshield. Again, I ask what is with this world? How can people just be so uncaring?

I think two words sum it up - DRUGS AND ALCOHOL!!
I'm not sure if that's the case with the boats, but it sounds like the drivers were being alittle reckless.

It is sad to think people could do such things and then act as if nothing happened.

Stephanie - you're right. That must have been the case. This was a no-wake zone, idle speed only and this boat had to be going in excess of 50 MPH, shudder to imagine how fast it was going. It's just a matter of time before they catch him. The mayor of a small town up river saw a cig boat with a damaged motor at a boat ramp. He asked the boat driver if he wanted help and all he said was something like I've got to get going. I'm in a hurry. This was the next day, time to sober up so to speak. He's in so much trouble, as it should be. Hard to hide these boats, only a few registered in this area.

You would not believe all the drinking and boating that goes on in our rivers and oceans. The statistics would probably make us all faint.
It is now illegal here in MS to operate water craft under the influence. Our police dept. has purchased two boats to enforce this law. There have been 17 under the influence arrests in two months. Two attached as a felony.
The judge I work for had a son that was under the influence while boating in the river. Resulted in the death of a child when he hit something in the water. It was very sad!!
