Oh well..doubtful that Phil will even see his shadow this year:

Punxsutawney forecast:

Thursday:

Mostly cloudy. Highs in the mid 40s. Southwest winds around 5 mph.

********************************************************

Maybe at least Sir Walter Wally has some chance of seeing his at the NC Zoo in Asheboro:

Thursday:

Partly cloudy in the morning...then mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. South winds around 5 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Well, I'm saying no, Spring is around the corner b/c winter has been on vacation here in the Ohio Valley.

Although just today a local Met sent out an update to his viewer list (I belong). He is predicting a return of wintery wx. 2 weeks worth. So we'll see.....

94 times out of the last 109 times, he has seen his shadow. 2 years ago, it was snowing...completely cloudy...and he still SAW his shadow. It is fixed. The inner circle knows ahead of time if he will see his shadow or not.

I live abour an hour and a half from Punxsatawney...I was considering going to see the groundhog thing, but that would require me to get up before 5 AM to get ready.

I say he'll see his shadow, here - February is usually our coldest month AND
best chance for any accumulating snow!

This reminds me - my neice's birthday is Feb. 2nd - I'm gonna be a smarty and
send her a "Happy Groundhog's Day" e-card, pretending that I forgot it was her
birthday....

If the Groundhog sees his shadow this year, I think most if not all Canadians will forgive him. Torontonians won't mind 6 more weeks of winter, since we haven't really even seen 6 full days of winter this season so far LOL. Well not literally, but almost.

It's been officially the warmest January in history, not only in Toronto, but mostly coast to coast across Canada.
Any snow we did get this month melted pretty quickly and the ground has been bare almost all month long....astonishing living in a normally snowy city this time of the year.

I hope he doesn't see it. I am ready for spring time, even here in Florida where it has been a fairly mild winter so far.

No, you would have to stay up all night. They start bussing people up to Gobblers Knob at 1 or 2 AM, and then there is an all night party up there. Its absolutely nuts up there. I never went to the Knob when I lived in Punxsy. We lived right across the street from one pickup locations. You could hear people walk by all night long.
