we were waiting outside for it to fly over our house. it was supposed to be visible over NW Florida.

It's also the day our granddaughter was born. (Happy Birthday, Layla!)

I was at home. I don't remember much past that. I think I wasn't aware of it till later in the day.

I was doing Laundry that morning during the incident. While the clothes were drying, I went outside to do some walking around, then suddenly I heard a loud pop as if someone was slashing a tire. I turned the TV on the news to see what the latest stories were and that was the time I saw the Columbia explode.

It was weird. I woke up to hear the words "Space Shuttle Columbia" on my alarm clock radio and I just new that it had exploded. I turned on the tv and sure enough, it had.

I was home. My Grandma called and said to turn on CNN fast, so I did, and there it was.

I was up early, we went to my grandparent's house that day. I went to one of the rooms in the house to watch TV, because I knew the shuttle was landing, and knew when it didn't arrive when it was supposed to that something bad had happened.

I remember it vividly. I woke up and turned CNN on in bed and then my mom came rushing in and said "something horrible has happened. The space shuttle exploded." I knew that there was some kind of breaking news on but I was still half-asleep. As soon as she told me that, I was wide awake. I watched the coverage for the next 3 days.

I was online then went on yahoo and saw on the front page "NASA declares emergency as contact is lost with Columbia". I thought they were still in space and that it was just a communications problem. But then I turned on the TV and saw what really happened :(.

I was at home and saw it on the news shortly after it happened. My sister was at a basketball game and called me as soon as she left when she saw flags were at half staff. I confirmed what she feared. :(

I was in line at a drive thru restaurant getting breakfast when I heard the news. The radio station reported that communication had been lost with Columbia. All I remember is a horrible feeling came over me as I instantly began to recall the Challenger disaster back in 86.

I was getting up to start my beer route, when I turned on CNN and I saw what happened. I thought "Oh no, not again" I have a pin on my hat about the shuttle.

I had watched one of those 'when we come bacl' thing on the news the night before talking about how the foam wasn't going to be a problem I guess (they mentioned they were going to dicuss it later) and then I went to sleep before it came on. The next morning the space shuttle disaster.

I was living in Europe at the time and was waiting to watch tape-dalyed US sports on TV. Needless to say, there weren't any sports on that day.

I slept through it even though it happened right over my head - didn't find out till later on when I turned on the news. I remember how beautifully clear the sky was that day.
