Roller Coaster Stuck at Six Flags, Md.

Seventeen people are stuck aboard a roller coaster at Six Flags in Largo. Fox News keeps going back to the scene and you can see the people stranded up there and they seem to be calm from a distant. I'm not sure how long they've been stranded, but it's been a while.

Prince George’s County Fire spokesman Mark Brady says the “Two Face” roller coaster is stuck in the upright position about 200 feet off the ground, as the result of some type of mechanical problem. He stresses that everyone aboard appears to be safe.

I LOVE roller coasters, but I think it would be a little scary to be stuck up there! :o

Another reason why I probably won't get on a roller coaster. ;)

I'd turn around and go on it again! I'm that way with roller coasters....

As long as it's just stuck (broken down), there isn't much to worry about. Most large theme parks and fire/ rescue departments near such attractions conduct drills for such emergencies.

I'm not saying I'd want to be stuck there 200 feet in the air....but like Shannon said, as soon as it's repaired....I'd ride the roller coaster again; because 1) I LOVE roller coasters, and 2) I'm a little bit warped :D (remember, I'm the same guy that gets an adrenalin rush when tornado warning sirens start blaring :D

I also saw the pictures of the roller coaster stuck at Six Flags, Maryland in Largo, MD on MSNBC, FOX News Chanenl didn't have has much coverage of the event, as far as I could tell. I put on CNN a few times while they were stuck and didn't see anything about the event.

I am not a fan of amusement parks either. One time my brother and a friend of his went to one and I was bored as anything following them around between rides, waiting for them while they were on them from below.

I enjoy roller coasters a lot...even at my age. So I wouldn't mind being stuck for a while on one that would give me more than 90 seconds of thrill after a 90 minute wait.

But wouldn't be too thrilled to be stuck for hours with a 24 oz supercola trying to wait for the potty car to "whiz" by!

When I went to Islands of Adventure a few weeks back down in Orlando, I managed to get up the nerve to go on the Hulk. You know when you first go up the steep hill slowly? Not this one, it shoots you up at 60 MPH!! Talk about a thrill!!

I rode the Cobra at Six Flags, GA. That one looped too darn much. lol. I saw the sign that said "remove earrings" I thought it meant that you may lose them. When I got off that ride my earrings were nothing but twisted bent metal. LOL!!

I just love roller coasters. Lindaloo, that Hulk is a blast isn't it? Have you tried Rockin Roller Coaster at MGM?

Back in 1977 & 78, I was able to work summers at Astroworld. Talk about fun! I was able to work the Texas Cyclone and Greased Lightning. We got to ride for free when warming the rides up and we'd throw the leftover ice from the water cooler on those employees who were riding!

We did not go to MGM this trip. We are going back right before school starts to all the other parks. I will definitely check that one out.

Astroworld!! I loved it there!!

O yes the jinxed park or land what ever you wanna call it off of rt214 (Central Ave)...............This Six flags park has had its share of misfortune as far back as i can remember back in the 70s when it was a drive through type of Zoo untill someone was killed by one of the animals................Yea i lived about a 3minute walk from this park and know alot about its history including that..................After the zoo theme somone opened it up again as the same type of thing but with less danerous animals but it only lasted about 2 or so years then after that it sat closed for a few years untill another company baught it and made it a water park which ended up having its share of misfortune with a couple of people that got killed in thier park one was in thier wave pool and another was a child which i think the park ended up getting sued big time for because the life guard that was supposed to be on duty wasnt there and more or less left the area unguarded.................This six flags baught them out and have had a pretty clean slate that i know of untill this..................Either way this is one of them things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm...........................And by the way i use to know that fire spoaksmen! (Mark Brady) when i was a kid...................Thanks for sharing this southerngale..........:)

Couldn't agree more with you. Have you ever seen the people that work at these amusement parks? Do you know why they are working there?
Anyway....not a knock on these people specifically, for I fear to a much higher degree, the traveling carnival/amusement park scene that pops up in every vacant parking lot across this country. THOSE are the rides I would NEVER consider getting on.

I'm not a fan of Amusement Parks, either... Bumper Cars, some water slides, and those types of things are the things I go on....... anything else is way too scary for me. I went on one Roller Coaster at Hersey Park called the "Trailblazer"..... It had no loops or hills or anything and I almost threw up!

I love roller coasters but if I were stuck on one in mid air I would die of fright. Call me hysterical.

I love roller coasters too!! The scarier the better!! CajunMama...I've been on the Texas Cyclone and Greased Lightning countless times. We would stand in line over and over just to ride again. I'd love it after a storm because a lot of people would leave Astroworld and we could ride over and over without much of a line or no line at all. :D
I haven't been to Astroworld in a few years....hmmm....maybe I ought to think about planning a trip there one day soon. 8-)
The last amusement park I went to was Fiesta Texas in San Antonio and I also went to Schlitterbahn waterpark that week. If you haven't been to Schlitterbahn, you ought to consider a trip there. We had a BLAST!!! It's in New Braunfels, Texas - just nw of San Antonio.
