Grandpa just fell-Ambulance on the way

Just got some alarming news. My aunt just called. My grandpa just fell. Ambulance is on the way. He was alone and hit his medic alert button. I am just shaking right now. He shouldn't of been alone. I know one of his children offered to stay with him. But, he insists on being independent. My mom is on the way now to see about him. I know I need to go too, but mom wants me to stay by the phone and stay here. Please pray for me. I just can't lose him too! It is only been 3 years since my grandma died. I am trying to be positive and know that my grandma, and the good Lord above is looking after him.

Okay here is an update. My mom got off the phone with my aunt. My grandpa is being taken to the hospital for observation. They don't think he has any broken bones. He had a weak spell and fell due to low blood sugar. He is a diabetic and his blood sugar was down to 30. My grandpa should NOT stay by himself! Someone should stay with him whether he wants it or not. On top him having the bladder problems and the catherer once again in him. Thank goodness for medic alert! We practically had to force him to have that too. My grandpa refuses to see himself as an 84-year old man. I guess he still thinks he is in his 20's or 30's sometimes.

I'm glad that it wasn't anything too serious, but it's scary just the same. He should get someone (a nurse) to look in on him everyday. I can understand though the stubborn streak because I know I wouldn't want to have to depend on anyone either when I get older, but it just may happen.

So sorry about your Grandpa, cajungal, prayers and thoughts for him, you and other family members. Maybe have a family schedule perhaps where different members take turns being with your grandfather.

Cajungal, so sorry to hear of your Grandpa's fall and in hospital again, especially from falling. I will pray for him!! What happened with your jury duty, hope you were excused? Hope it all works out for you without a big hit in the pocketbook. {{{{hugs}}}}}

Just got back from jury duty. This time I only stayed for 2 hours. 8:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Then, they released us and told us to call for further instructions on Wednesday after 4 p.m. So, I am still not in the clear. But, at least I can make it to work tonight as scheduled. I am sure the family members will all take turns staying with him. I am glad he had a medic alert button. Otherwise he probably would of not made it to the phone and could of layed on the floor for hours before anyone found him.
