I need some adult supervision tonight

#1 Postby coriolis » Thu Jul 03, 2003 9:23 pm

I am not doing this to get attention. My wife and M.I.L. are away for the night. Today they stocked up on cigarettes and I'm facing cartons and cartons here for the smoking. I've been good now for almost 4 weeks and don't want to blow it now. I've had a couple urges tonite to open up a pack.

OK, I feel better. Now that you know about it, I'm feeling a deterrent because I'll have to face you, my friends.

Thanks,

The first couple of days are the toughest to get over. You've made it this far - type away if you need to get your mind off of them!

Don't you physically feel better already? I know I did shortly after I quit.

Hang in there buddy....you WILL overcome that urge.

Now, something to keep you busy....hmmmm.....see how many words you can make out of the following and then post your list:

GOD BLESS AMERICA

Have fun!! :D

Thanks for the support everyone. I made it thru the evening. No sooner did I type the message above, the cravings started to go away. There must be some kind of principle at work there: Shine some light to dispel the darkness.

Bronwyn, don't be discouraged, sister. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start planning for the next assault. It's a war and it won't be won or lost on one battle!

Ed....sorry I wasn't around to sit and chat last night...but I am first one up this morning to help you. I even made your first cup of coffee.

Keep it up...the hurdle you passed is a wonderful one, and remember, this is a holiday, and we have plenty of other things to do than fall back into an unwanted habit.

Now, let's sit down and sip that coffee and talk about whatever....

Don't give up Bron and Ed! It's okay that you may have had and set back or a craving - they are an addiction! Take comfort and give yourselves a pat on your back for the strides you made so far!

Bron - throw them away and get back on the bandwagon. Need to hear from KARAN and see how she is doing....

Remember the reasons you wanted to stop smoking Bron - keep that in your mind and DON'T cave it....

IMO, the 2 most dangerous drugs today are nicotine, and alcohol.

I agree, Constructionwx... both are extremely dangerous drugs and you shouldn't get involved with them.

Alright Ed, you just keep posting and not lighting up! You could actually set an all time record at Storm2K!!! Put on a pot of coffee and get at it.

We're here for ya! Hubby licked this years ago when Nina, age 4, merely said - Daddy I don't want you to die! And he quit, then and there. That was 12 years ago!

Wow, Miss Mary...great little story. That's why my dad quit years ago, but I was a teenager. I brought pamphlets home and lectured him about how bad smoking was for him.

Ironically, I picked up the horrible habit several years later but I quit when I got pregnant with my first baby. My kids are the reason I never went back...I want to be around for them for a long time. I still need my mom and dad. ;)
