For those of you who were so angry with her remarks--she said it to stay alive:

I was so sure that is what was happening. She and any of us would do or say anything for the chance of survival. God bless her.

And we do not know if she was shown other missing hostages who they threatened to kill if she did not go along with them.

We will never know the horror she went through.

I'm not surprised. I can't imagine the horror the woman went through...

Well, we all have a choice. I would rather die than have the jungle gorrilas here in Guate force me to say something, I didn't believe in. I was getting to wonder about what happened to her. :P

I pray I never have to find out what I would do. I'd like to think I would be patriotic beyond anything. But when you have a gun at your head or a knife at your throat......

And it's not surprising at all...I mean it's how many a POW during past wars who had the will to survive and eventually be freed would do and to be re-united with their loved ones. The captors make it their "psychological game" to "break" their prisoners like that for ie.

Gtmalacd what's with the :P in this instance...?

Well, here in Guate guerrillas have no problem slicing you up. They could careless about propaganda crap. All they want is money.

Wow. That must be a scary way to live!

She went over there because she wanted to help those people. She loved the Iraqi people. If she never goes back, she will probably go on somewhere else. The little time she was there, I am sure she was appreciated by many there. She did the right thing and the government will agree with her and she has nothing to apologize for saying.

Just the other day I read some women getting sliced in half via her private areas, her arms were cut by the shoulders. I have also read a guy getting macheted to death because of his affiliation with certain parties that are in favor of ridding villages from the jungle to make room for growth (you know who won there). Now, there is a murder spree of young kids being killed..It's a mad world out there, but some places here are just beautiful.

i remain unconvinced. she is totally unmarked, and considering how muslims see women as little more than property, i find it odd. also, if she was constantly under threat of death, it is counter intuitive that she would have put on weight.

maybe she was threatened, or maybe she read her own words and decided she better say guns were pointed at her head

How do you know there weren't marks under all of the clothing?

I remain CONVINCED until I hear or see something that convinces me otherwise.

Well Helen Senator John McCain..a former POW, has no problem with what she did. She merely told her captors what they wanted to hear. If Senator McCain, having been in captivity before, has no issues with her then nor should anyone else.

George, you are so right. Those people who go over there and fight for those people's rights have my thanks. It is real easy for people to criticize her conduct while in captivity. It is harder to get off your butt and contribute something to other who need help in this world. Unless you walk in other peoples shoes, you should keep quiet. Who cares if she has scars on her body or if she ate too well. I am sure she was aware that for three months she had a gun at her head the whole time, and I am sure she was next to her associate and watched him get killed.

I am done too, Green. I do not understand why the threads get out of control and cannot be discussed rationally. And because of a few, we get them locked.

Well, I pray you never find yourself in such a situation. And if you ever do and you say or do whatever you think is neccesary to get out alive, I pray you'll receive more understanding and consideration than you are willing to give.

trust me, senator mccain doesnt think for me on any issue. maybe guns were pointed at her, maybe they werent. but one thing is certain, being under the emotional strain of constant death, she should be gaunt and looking like a concentration camp prisoner. which brings up another issue. she said she was fed well, and she certainly ate well. we can all agree that statement wasnt made under duress
