This is embarrassing, but...

#1 Postby streetsoldier » Sun Jul 06, 2003 11:35 am

I don't often come to the Storm2K family for prayer,; however, this time I feel I must.

I've been having problems with my eyes the past few days; last night (early AM, really), my vision was so por I couldn't see the screen, or anything else for that matter. Everything appeared as if it was a watery, shapeless blob, surrounded by bright colors, and got worse until I went to bed (0400).

I don't know what's wrong, but please, if you have the inclination, send some intercessory entreaties up for me?

Thank you all,

Bill

Don't be embarassed!!! The bright lights almost sounded as if it was from a detached retina. I would say that the blurriness had to do with going to bed at 4:00 am, or even eye strain from the new job,but it sounds more serious than that.

Just make sure you get it checked out ASAP and keep us informed!

Bill, my Dear Brother, you need not be ashamed to ask for help and prayer, Lord knows that's our *reason* for being called here to storm2K, I truly believe that now, we were called to a better place, a more caring web community. Ask and it shall be done, got ya covered as I post this Brother!

I agree with Dennis, Bill!! I took prayer a step further and am going to have a Mass prayer card read for you in Church this evening. Father Cleary will bless you and ask God to heal. You are a great person and are always there when we need you. Now you need us and we are there!! :)

Bill, I've already asked a prayer on your behalf...but it might be a very good idea to go to the emergency room this afternoon....get that checked out.

There are a lot of things that can affect your eyesight...some are minor and some not. I well remember my dad and grandmother's first warning signs of diabetes was problems with their vision (blurred and distorted)....and a significant loss of vision also preceeded my great aunt's stroke in late May. I definitely wouldn't wait until tomorrow if there was any alternative today (Wellstar Douglas Hospital always has emergency contacts with eye surgeons they can reach 24/7 in case of emergency).

I'll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers Bill.

May God Bless,
Perry

Bill, as a nurse, I was reading your post, thinking,
"I wonder what his blood sugar level is?"

I see that Perry, having lived with the experience,
has already tossed that idea on the table. He's right,
my friend - it's one of the first things to consider with
your symptoms. If there's any way that you can do
it, you need to get it seen about.

In the meantime, I'm asking the Good Lord to help you out!

Thanks, everyone; I'm typing while I can still see well enough.

More info...the "blurry with lights" spot, encompassing abouit 65% of my total sight picture slowly disappeared as soon as I entered my bedroom...dark, no external lights, and I was able to sleep within an hour or so.

This is accompanied with frontasl headache, "pressure" behind the eyes, and the left eye has "burning" feelings and a pink-reddish color under the upper and lower lids; if this is any help to you "med-service" members. Also, there is no history of diabertes on either side of my family, but there's always that faint chance...

And, should it require more acute action/surgery, I will have to repar to the Knights Templars Eye Foundation for that (if I can find out from my Commandery how to go about it).

Meanwhile, I'l be going upstairs to my room after completing this...where it's dark. Thanks again; prayers are still requested. It wouldn't be all that much of a bother, except that I am an artist...visual acuity is iomperative, especially when I have work waiting to do.

Prayers my friend from Phoenix....indeed for understanding and that His hand will hold yours while you wait and wonder.

Find a way to get the help, Bill...so that once again you can see and feel the words of those who pray for you.

Hmmmm.....Bill is it both eyes that are affected? Being one
eye, I could almost suggest "pink eye", which is a stapholococcus
infection...with the "burning" sensation and discoloration, that
sounds more like a staph infection of some kind, other than
a diabetic eye disorder. Antibiotics can cure it, if it's an
infection.

Rest it, no matter what, my friend...

I wish you the best with your eye situation, Bill.

At times my eyes bother me, like there is something in them. The difference in my eyesight between my last two eye exams showed no change.

I believe my senstivity to light is the issue with my occasionally "episodes."

Bill you are in my prayers ! I agree w/ Breeze,it sounds like some sort of infection, nothing to mess with. Some people discover real quick once they start working full time on a computer their eyes get strained very easily. I know a couple of people who wear glasses while on the puter, but not any other time ! Get better ! Big (((((hug)))) to you too ! ~K

The irritation is in the LEFT eye, breeze, but when I close it, or "block it off", the visual impairment continues. Last6 evening, I couldn't focus on anything...UNTIL I got in to a dark room.

The only thing I didn't mention is the leftv eye is "stuck" togeter when awakening; I have to rinse this white-grey stuff off, very carefully before I can open it. It may be a simple infection, but then, why would it affect my total vision? The questions never ceasee.

Bill, you may have Pinkeye.....here are a couple sites I found on it:

http://www.uhs.wisc.edu/ex/selfcare/res ... nk_eye.php

http://www.meritcare.com/hwdb/showtopic ... Pinkeye%20

With the exception of the vision loss, you seem to have several symptoms of Pinkeye (I remember my little sis had pinkeye about a year ago, and also mentioned suffering blurry vision in her right eye).

I hope you wake up feeling fine in the morning Bill.

Good luck and God bless,
Perry

BTW Bill...
I just called my sis in Oregon, and she said when suffering from Pinkeye -- she couldn't stand bright lights...had to stay in a dark room, couldn't stand looking at her computer screen or tv, and also had blurred vision (she caught it from Maddie; all three of the kids had it too).

God bless,
Perry
