EASTER WEEKEND OPENINGS/CLOSINGS
Toronto, Ontario, Thu Apr 13 2006
GOOD Friday, April 14 2006
EASTER Sunday, April 16 2006
Ahhh Torontonians! We have waited and waited and waited, 15 weeks to be
exact, since the last holiday weekend way back on New Years. Unlike our neighbours down to the south, where the US enjoyed 2 holidays in between (Martin Luther King Day in January and President's Day in February), we in Toronto suffered through a 3 month stint without a single statutory holiday. There are just 8 in the year. Most Ontario
workers all get a paid holiday on Friday.
But finally it is here, the first Holiday weekend of the year.
It's the Easter Holiday weekend, and most everything is shut tight in and
around the city tomorrow, Good Friday.
Regular hours resume on Saturday, but once again, everything shutters again
for the Easter Holiday on Sunday.
Most everyone returns to work on Monday, with the exception of Government
Offices and Canada Post, who have the extra day off. Also, most schools
have the day off on Monday as well.
Here's the list of whats open and closed:-
There will be no city garbage pickup on Good Friday.
All branches of major banks including Scotiabank, TD Canada Trust, RBC Royal
Bank, CIBC, Bank of Montreal will be closed on Good Friday.
Post offices: closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
City libraries: closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday and Monday
All shopping centres including Fairview Mall, Centerpoint Mall, Yorkdale
Shopping Center, Sherway Gardens, Promenade Mall, Yonge Eglinton Center all
will be closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
Unlike other statutory holidays, Toronto Eaton Center will also be closed on
Good Friday and Easter Sunday. There are just 3 days of the entire year
that the Eaton Center is closed, the other day is Christmas Day.
Grocery stores Food Basics, Price Chopper, Dominion, Sobeys, Loblaws: closed
on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
LCBO locations: closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday
All Beer Store locations: closed on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
City Offices and Government Offices:- Closed Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Canada Post:- No mail delivery on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Schools:- Closed Good Friday and Easter Monday
