UFO's

#1 Postby Janice » Tue Apr 18, 2006 2:48 pm

We have been to the moon and mars, snooping around planets. So, when someone says they have seen space ships here, why are we so surprised? Maybe they are snooping around too. Just because we can't get to a lot of other planets faster doesn't mean other beings are not farther advanced than us. Remember, we could hardly go anywhere 100 years ago.

I think if they are that advanced they would want to contact us...And mengal around with us....Maybe pick up some earth souvenirs at Wal-Mart...

Walmart is exactly what leads them to believe there's no intelligent life on earth....

What is wrong with Walmart, it is one of my favorite stores?

And, maybe they have been here and only a few select people know it.

What if I don't and can't help it? Are you saying I'm not smart, Janice?

No, I am saying everyone thinks different on this subject. Some believe in them and some do not. We may never know if they really exist.

Maybe the bacteria here on earth is too much for them to handle and thats why they can't go into WalMart.

Yes, and maybe that is why they can't land. They don't want our infections, etc.

While we're kind'a sort'a on the ET theme, could anyone here tell me when they decided to go on this new tack of changing how Uranus was pronounced??

Ok, ok, I KNOW about the obvious pronunciation thing and connotations some have drawn; but I find the "new" way of saying it equally repulsive, LOL.

OMG, that is just as bad or worse. Why mess with it in the first place? A name is a name no matter what. I really had no idea it changed, I guess I would have found out in the next few years as my twins go into 3rd and 4th grade. Yep, thats pretty retarded. They will make worse comments about that I think than the first pronunciation.

It's also possible that said space aliens have something similiar to the "Prime Directive" in Star Trek not to interfere with species of inferior technology. Perhaps we need to advance our tech a bit before they're willing to talk to us.

Another possibility is that they're like the Ariloulaleelay from the Star Control series of video games. Essentially a caretaker race that works mostly in the shadows and only appear openly and in force if necessary to the survival of our species. The Arilou look very much like Roswell Greys often depicted in sci-fi shows or movies.

A third possibility is that while the Sol star system is of interest humanity isn't really that much of an interest to the aliens.

I agree with this assessment. As far as them being evil boogey-men just waiting to snatch us up and disect us for their own sinister purposes--I don't buy it. I definitely believe in ET intelligence and subscribe to SETI. We tend to look at prospective aliens through our own perspectives and standards, (which is understandable, however illogical) but I am firmly convinced that any society that would be so advanced it could manage interstellar (or even MORE wild--extra-gallactical) travel, would NEVER be barbaric enough to do some of the things the "Alien" type flix, tend to depict. Perhaps that's not true; but I believe any civilization that advanced would have long ago stopped worrying about killing and conquest stuff...

You show me a non-Earth-originating aircraft and then maybe I'll think about it.

'Til then...we have met the enemy and he is us.
