With the hope that I'm not treading into political territory, I just gotta say that the fanatical behavior in Iraq is REALLY getting old. Now, some of the "fanatics" have beheaded teachers in their own classroom, right in front of their own students. Simply amazing and unimaginable.....

They will continue to do these things until US troops leave. They know all this violance is causing trouble within the US and they will do anything to get our troops out. Once we leave, they will surely take over the country.

Well that seems to be the confusing thing. Who is in the majority and who is they? If it represents the average Iraqi then were not helping the situation. If it's extremists like we are led to believe then we can't let them take over with this kind of brutality. It Sucks no doubt.. Of course some of this is simply the same old religious battle that has been going on for centuries and the US is blamed for fun..

even before we were there, there were many different factions of people. that isnt going to stop whether we're there or not. Your comment about the battle going on for centuries is quite accurate and the US being there has certainly not helped one way or the other in that regard.

The problems in the Middle East at this point mostly stem from the way the countries were created and divided by the imperialist Europeans as they left those colonies in the 19th and early 20th centuries. They arbitrarily created nations out of different peoples who hated one another and split certain peoples who share ideologies into multiple different nations. We will pay the price for that for a long time to come with instability and war in that region.

I've turned over a new leaf. You'll note that my post was historical in nature, and had nothing whatsoever to do with American politics.

The united states needs to leave and let them figure it out. Sometimes mediation is not the best thing also, we have helped train their army, police and a lot of other things so I think we have helped a lot. Without getting political on the subject.

I personally think that the short period of peace for us is almost over...We have been so strong for about the last 30 or 50 years that no one threaten us. Now that China and India and a few other countrys are growing stronger then we got problems.
The world will become unstable...History proves that we go through periods that are short peaceful with powerful nations, fellowed by long periods of war.
Also with global warming it could only get worst.

Well, regardless of who's to blame, or who did what to whom in earlier centuries, I am still appalled that any human being - no matter their ideological or political beliefs - would (or even could) murder a teacher in front of his or her students. And the heinous manner in which they did it is just simply appallingly.....

Wow... only Matt could make the leap between Iraqi violence and global warming.

It's hard to say this without being political... But some are just as appalled at what we've done done in Iraq. Literally tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis have been killed as a direct result of our military action there.

Well, if you think the Iraq war is bad, I am scared to think of what is next. Pretty soon we will not have troops going anywhere, all warfare will be fought in the air by missles and bombs. Big bombs.

if we dont have troops deployed, how do you think the missiles and bombs will get to their targets????? sorry, your comment just doesnt make sense.
