Dumped Norton

Back in 2003 I had installed Norton Internet Security as well as Norton Anti Virus software. After a year it expires, and at a minimum, on two week intervals, you are reminded that it is expired, and do you wish to renew. I had repeatedely indicated "Remind me in 2 weeks", which was the max. Well I guess Norton has something built in that after a few years it just goes haywire and keeps popping up a message to tell you its not up to date. I would close it, it would pop right back up in a matter of seconds. So, I removed it from my computer entirely.

From a recommendation from an associate, I went to the following site and downloaded their "totally free Anti-Virus" software. I ran it and it found 3 Trojan Horse Viruses of various flavors. Computer runs great now, lightning fast, and this software automatically updates virus definitions FREE!!!! forever.

The individual that steered me to this was an individual who has access to any software he wants, being an installation and trainer for DBWorks (a high-end file management package).

Anyway, here is the link. If you don't have Anti Virus software , or your's has expired, trust me, you need to get some back on there. Use it with confidence. :)

I have all free ware. I have AntiVir for virus, spybot S&D for spyware, and I also run Ewido anti-malware, ccCleaner, and AdAware. I only keep one as my default because running more than one at the same time offers less protection. But they all are good at finding different types of malware on your computer. My friend also had issues with Norton and now has free ware as well and is happier with it.

j...I edited your post to shorten the link. I had to scroll 6 miles east to read each line. :P

Btw, I've used AVG for a few years or so, and I love it. It does an awesome job of protecting my computer.

We use AVG too. When we got the cable internet installed when we moved here back in December, the guy did it for us. I like it.

I had AVG till I got a trojan virus and then I installed AntiVir after recovery, both were recommended by relatives of the family that are computer geeks. I like the AntiVir alot better though.

I too use Avast. I love the fact that I can go to the forums when when I had a problem that wouldn't let it update. Found the solution in one of the threads on the Avast forums.

Lindaloo,
Go to this address: http://www.getfoxie.com/feature/firewall/ and download the Foxie Firewall. It is a free firewalll and it has a few extra features that other firewallls don't. It will block spammers & scammers, Blocks spyware and adware, last but not least it woill block worms & exploits too! It is the firewall I I use and I have had no problems with any thing infecting me.
