What is the worse, wildest thing you did with your hair?

Did you go blond? That if you are origionally a brunette.

Did you ever dye your hair jet black or colored it blue, etc.?

How about a mohawk or shaved your head bald.



Me..... I just colored it different brown colors. I am somewhat conservative.

One time when i was in 7th grade my mom took me to get a perm. I had long hair and told the lady to leave it shoulder length. I guess she didn't understand the English language because she proceeded to chop off all my hair and gave me a
tight curly perm. I did not have my glasses on at the time and couldn't really see how short she cut my hair. After the hideous perm I looked like a brillo head and my little boyfriend dumped me the next day.

I'm so boring, this story is really nothing but here goes.....I had a body perm once and my hairdresser said it would make blow drying my page boy hairstyle easier. Ha! It added 30 minutes to my routine, I had to pull my hair very taught and tight to keep it straight. Otherwise it kinked up.

I was in the habit back then of using henna. The instructions said not to apply henna for several weeks after a perm.

So I intentionally pulled out or relaxed this perm, with weekly natural henna treatments.

I came in for a trim 8 weeks later and barely any trace of this perm. My hairdresser cracked up - guess that was not what you wanted?

That was one of the last times I listened to a hairdresser. They are not in our bathrooms with us each morning, as we style our hair. What do they know? They see us once every 6 to 8 weeks.....hrrrrrmmmmpppphhhhh!

Hey, my mom gave me perms when I was young too and they always turned out like brillo pads... They were horrible and no way to straighten it. Just had to hold down with bobby pins.

i've grown my hair out somewhat long, but nothing real crazy.

I was a little rock n roll chick when I was in high school! I chopped my hair off short, then died blonde stripes into it (my natural color is dark brown). Couldn't miss it! LOL And to make matters worse, I had a manic panic collection... so I could dye those streaks whatever color I wanted to fit my mood. Blue was my favorite .... sure wasn't my parents favorite, though!

Made a bet with my Academic Games kids one year that they didn't have the motivation to win the sweepstakes title in both Junior and Senior divisions... felt it was a safe bet.... said I'd shave it all off if they won both.... they did.

Looked like a cue ball for weeks after that---great motivational tool

My mother wanted to kill me, but I had a friend who was going to school to be a hair dresser, so I let her put henna in my hair (at least that's not permanent). Unfortunately, it was just alittle too ORANGE.

HOWEVER, I must say, as it began to wash out, it turned into a beautiful auburn shade, which I did like.

I cut several inches off one side when I was six. My mother nearly fainted.

Most people I know did something similar when they were kids.

My natural color of my hair when I was younger was a very dark brown. Almost black. But, over the years, it really lightned up due to the sun and the fact that I swim a lot in the summer. About 5 years ago, I decided to get highlights done for the first time. The hairdresser had to bleach my hair before she put the highlights in due to my hair being so dark. It turned almost pure blonde and did not go with my face at all. I hated it! And after I washed it a few times, it almost had a slight green color to it. And it totally fried my hair! I tried every frizz product on the market and could not the frizz out. So, I dyed my hair back my natural color and will never get highlights again. I will continue to stay at my natural color. I think it looks so much better and makes me feel more like me.

I had a Barbara Streisand afro done. I loved it, and got great compliments. The only problem was Barbara was rich and I'm not. The upkeep of the do was costly.

When I was a teenager I had think, wavy, unruly hair that hung down over my eyes and down to my collar; I looked like a sheepdog. More recently I have kept my hair military short but lately have been letting it grow out again so it touches my ears. My formerly dark brown hair is now gray and white with a little brown still there.

I was a junior in high school. Used that foam in color stuff. I went to school looking soooooo good that morning. As the morning went by the color of my hair started to change. It ended up being the loveliest shade of OLIVE GREEN! Thank goodness my brother and his wife lived in walking distance of the school so I was able to check out...oh and thank goodness bandanas were popular too so i could hide that olive green hair. Over 30 years have gone by and i'm still not able to live that down!

In the 90's I had a curly perm of varying lengths. It was so easy to take care of since all I had to do was wash it and let it dry.

When I was in high school I went on a retreat with some inner city kids who were African-American and they took my then blond hair and braided it and teased it into an afro of sorts. Like any young person my hair has been bleached once or twice, but I have always had blond to light brown hair which goes naturally to a platinum blond if I am in the sun a lot(which I am not anymore).

Of course being a child of the 60's in college my hair was up to shoulder length and put up into a pony tail or allowed to just fall around my face. Had a "shag" haircut in the early 70's too.

Oh i bet you were one cool dude!

Ohhhhh and then there was the time the hairdresser gave me a mullet the day before a Mardi Gras ball--and it was to be a blind date to the ball, too. Oh I was hot to trot about that one.

i was always a conservative goody-goody until my first year of college. then i died my hair jet black. (EGAD). then while i was in the AF and living in Seattle, we found the New Wave scene. And I got this really funky haircut and dyed my hair black (again) and the tips this beautiful shade of blue. I worked on the flightline mostly, so I almost always had a hat on and didnt get into trouble. Then I moved to the Philippines where disco still ruled and New Wave hadnt hit yet, so i returned my hair to its natural state.

I have a friend who was a hairdresser with her own shop - she used to "experiment" on me with her new products. The only time something didn't work she tried a new coloring process on me and my hair turned bright red - the guys at work (who were 20 years older than I was at the time) took to calling me Miss Kitty (Gunsmoke).

LOL... I think redheads are beautiful. I just love that color.

Burgundy is real popular in PR, haven't tried it yet...
