I saw the movie today and it was very good. The critics were unfair. Some labeled Tom Hanks' performance as wooden. I couldnt disagree more. Some said there was no chemistry between him and the leading lady. Again, I disagree. It wasnt a love story for crying out loud. It followed the book pretty well. The actor playing Silas was very convincing and did the role well.
Has anyone else seen it? I will see it again next weekend when the husband is home.

I'm not sure yet if I will see it as I don't want to support the movie. I know enough about the storyline to know how absurd it is though. Since you're commenting on the acting, I can't comment there. It could be great. But the story itself...I don't find it as shocking as some people. There have been efforts in the very beginning of Christianity to subvert the truth with a lie. Even in the New Testament, Paul himself was warning against false gospels.
It may be an exciting mystery suspense thriller, but the problem comes in when they try to pass it off as truth, claiming that the church's traditional teachings about Jesus are all a fraud.
The good news is that this Hollywood fictional movie has people talking about Jesus, and the lost asking questions. Hopefully Christians can overcome the Hollywood glitter and show those people the Truth.

Just saw it...This is no threat to any religion by far....I am Atheist if anything this will probably help the christian cause...The main story has changed over time(Old testament verses new) Interperting languages into others which sometimes will have different meanings...Face it the bible has more questions than answers...The truth you speak of southegale is a group of story's put together by man to give man some purpose in life...Thats fine for some people...But for me personally I believe we are all wrong and living blindly..
But anyway go see the movie...It was very good..Even though a fake story some of the history they show is quite real...

I'm not a Christian so I cant pretend to understand what all the fuss is about. It's a movie. It's fiction. I dont know that anyone is passing it off as fact. It's not been released as a documentary.

I'm probably going to skip it, just because the book didn't interest me that much.

I'm not religious at all. I liked the movie alot. I thought it was very intresting and no threat to religion at all like already said. It was almost like a mystery I guess you could say. I enjoyed it alot. I went in there thinking it would be all about religion and I would be bored. Also Tom Hanks did a wonderful job as well as the leading lady and the old guy, cant remember his name.

Since I'm at a crossroads faith wise, I'm interested. So I will see it, eventually. We usually don't see first run movies, b/c of the expense. But I know plenty of Catholics all up in arms over it. Right there, that's enough to pique my interest!

Yes, I agree with this...we took the stance that we wanted to see it, so we could be better prepared, and be able to tell the truths and disclaim the falses of the film...our pastor actually thought this may be a good idea...better to be educated with confused people ask questions about the movie....he is also preaching last Sun and this coming on the "truths"...and disproving with The Word, the falses....
My mom refuses to understand the stance we have taken on it...she just sees it as blasphomy...but I still believe we are doing what we feel is best....
THE MOVIE WAS VERY EASILY RECOGNIZED AS FICTION to us...reminded me kinda of National Treasure...same genre...
Brians son went off on him about seeing it as well...
If NO Christians watch the movie, and are eduacted enough to be able to tell non Christians whats truth and whats not, and back it up, then you're allowing the movie to be out there as truth, conflicting what IS truth...so I think alot of Christians, like my mother, should get off their high horses, go see the movie and be able to talk about it with non believers...its a fabulous oppurtunity to share the Word! Ya already got them talking...now educate them.....

I saw the movie and I really don't think its fiction now. Kind of makes me doubt my church(Catholic). Certainly a plausible idea.

I completely forgot that it came out. Last I heard, 2 of the 3 authors of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" were suing Dan Brown for plagiarism to block the movie release (obviously, they lost).
I'm going to try to catch this flick this week. Hopefully, it will be much better than "The Librarian" starring that young guy from ER who was searching for biblical relics to save the world. I love movies like this (absolutely loved "National Treasure" too).

I don't understand why anyone is taking it as truth anyway. It's a movie and a book. Just like Stigmata, The Exorcist, and lots of other flicks with religious themes, it's just a movie.
I'll see it because I like Tom Hanks.

No use to talk about this with a non believer...A true non believer will no its fake...A true non believer knows the bible better than most believers.....It takes alot to become a true non believer...You might be able to convert a Agnostic but never a true Atheist...Just remember your truths that you speak of do not represent the whole planet...There are many religions some as big or bigger than the christian one...

That is why we have freedom of religion in the United States. It is ok to believe in God and OK not to.
We just always need to respect others for their beliefs.
