When you go out, do you carry anything to protect youself in case you come upon someone who may harm you?

A gun, pepper spray, hairspray, stun gun, whistle, knife, etc.

I don't. I try not to be alone in any area and when I walk to my car, I walk when other people are around.

my umbrella is small enough to carry in my bag, but it can extend and be used as a baseball bat if necessary, which I do know how to swing, hard.

my neighborhood can be rough but I haven't had any problems.

i also stick my keys in between my fingers and make a fist so it looks like i have claws like Woolverine on X-Men.

I don't. That's not likely here.

Just a cell phone in case the car breaks down or something.

Not that I carry it with me, but I can fight with a staff, which I keep at home. I could use a lot of things as a substitute if I'm out somewhere.

Like the man said -- Speak softly...kick butt with a big stick!

I do carry a gun sometimes. Depends on where I'm going to be.

The only weapon I can use is a bright flash light, shine it right in the assailant's eyes and kick him/her where it hurts.

I have a cam shaft in my car that my husband had gotten for me for anyone trying to carjack me. If he's with me he has a permit to carry so he'll carry one of his guns

I can't imagine myself living somewhere that personal safety is such a concern. Maybe I'm living in la la land or something, but what's this world coming to?

I have never worried here in my town. I live in one of the best and safest towns on the island. I would never walk the streets at night, tho. That is stupid anywhere. But I feel perfectly safe walking anywhere during the day. I just think you need to use your brain.

I've been carrying around the same pepper spray in my purse for years. My mom gave it to me a long time ago. Every once in a while, I spray a tad on the ground just to make sure it still works. lol
I feel pretty safe everywhere I go though. Sure, something could happen anywhere, but I'm gonna run around scared all the time. I'll just kick whoever where the sun don't shine, and run like the devil.

Also ladies, something I read recently that I had never really thought about before. If you're going to your car and someone approaches you and tells you to give them your wallet or keys or whatever, whatever it is they want, throw it as far as you can. Chances are, that's what they really want and they will go get it, giving you a chance to run away. Otherwise, you have a better chance of ending up in your car with the scumbag driving and then who knows what!? I know the chances of this happening are slim, but it happens somewhere all the time and I thought it sounded like a good idea.

No weapons here. Kelly you may want to check the expiration date on that pepper spray since it loses its effectiveness with time. As ridiculous as this may sound either try to make sure your assailant is downwind or protect your face when you spray because that stuff is instantly incapacitating. Another idea is something that makes noise..like a panic alarm. Noise attracts attention and criminals hate that. I would strongly advise against carrying a firearm for protection unless you have been undergone PLENTY of training and I dont mean a 2 hour course either. Remember: if a crook gets your gun he will probably kill you with it. It happens to highly trained police officers so it can happen to ordinary citizens who are lulled into a false sense of security by packing heat.

Being in law enforcement, I have a "LOT" of *FRIENDS* Seriously, I have to watch my back at ALL times, that's the only bad part about law enforcement, your constantly being watched by those you've arrested. SO....with that said, I carry a Tauras .357 Magnum, Titanium Frame, 2" barrel loaded with Jacketed Hollow Points 150 gr. concealed in a ankle holster at ALL times, on or off duty, on duty for a backup.

I don't. I try not to be alone in any area and when I walk to my car, I walk when other people are around.

My face is my major weapon. I put on this REAL MEAN look and constantly looking about. I put my keys between my fingers and if anybody tried to snatch my purse they will get an instant hernia.
