Mental illness or not this is unexceptable!!!!! I swar we are way to nice to these people who are mentally ill sometimes. I think they should take him and hang him in a public place.

Now I know as an adult why they used to put the mentally ill people in prison type places, at least no innocent people were getting hurt because they went off the deep end. I hope I don't sound to harsh but there is a point when mentally ill people need to be taken out of the public.

Yes, they let them out on the streets. They just open doors of institutions and never keep track of them. Some of them are very dangerous. They need to build places for them like they do the prisons. I am sure some are getting SSI and they can apply those check to their upkeep. There are too many nuts walking around.

Bit testy today Chad?
I agree...it all falls into the "it's not my fault" mentality that seems to be taking hold or...."I can go out and run over some children and their mother at McDonald's and get off 'scott-free' by pleading 'insanity'"

NOT to defend this sicko, but there are mentally ill that are released into society when there's not enough funding to keep them in a mental institution, mostly when they are just a danger to themselves. Unfortunately, it takes something like this to make sure that person is put away for good.

You are right. But unfortunately, those who are not a danger to others who are let out are abused and assulted by society. They are taken advantage of and cannot care for themselves. They need to be put in loving nursing homes, etc. The sickos need to be locked up.

Your right Stephanie, I wasn't meaning to be heartless. I am just sick of people getting away with Murder by saying they are insane. And what I was saying was I think anyone that commits murder is at least some what insane.

I know where you are coming from. Unfortunately there's people that have GOOD LAWYERS that allow them to get away with murder by using this plea. I also knew that you meant that anyone that could even conceivably do something like this HAS TO BE mentally ill in some way. No doubt in my mind.

I should clarify my last post...there are people in this world who really need help and I do not deny that...I just feel almost like Chad....that it is an awfully "easy" excuse for some (OR at least has the potential to be)

I don't think society even cares anymore. I don't hear protestors on the streets demanding these people be locked up. They are more interested in air polution. As long as it is "not in my backyard" people don't care. They complain, but do nothing about it.
And as far as the government changing laws, no way. There is no money in it. If someone cannot make a buck, it is not worth the discussion. They are more worried about spending money on more prisions and elderly care then the innocent people on the street.

I definately agree with what both you and Chad said. What's needed is a better way to distinguish the two.
