Those Horrible Kids Tricks

What is one thing one of your kids did that really went over the top and you told him/her if they ever did it again, their days would be numbered :grrr:

When my son was about 10, he and a neighbor boy went down the street where there was a house with a huge old rock wall in the back. They came back to my house with a big paper sack full of little snakes, I would say about 10. They open the front door and yelled my name, dumped the snakes in the livingroom and ran outside. I screamed for them to get back in. I shut off all the doors, moved furniture out, etc. and told them to get every one of them back outside. I knew they did not go into the other rooms, they moved slow, but it was errie for a week or so sitting on furniture.

They just laughed their heads off after dumping the snakes.

I guess they were just bored, duh.

Yes, the old adage of "I was just bored Mom and Dad."

It was during my early grade school years...and a summer when the 17 year emergence of the cicadas (locusts) came to be. After an evening service at church (there was a cicada covered tree in the church front yard)...I grabbed some cicadas and snuck behind some adults who were chatting out on the sidewalk...and put them inside the church's mailbox!   Later that night at home my conscience got to me and I told my parents about it and so the next day we went to the church (where we attended) and I checked inside the mailbox...well, as you can imagine...a group of dead cicadas and I reached in/picked them up and tossed them behind the shrubs in front of the church.

There was a house under construction on my street. My son was told not to go over there. What does he do? Goes over there! He and a neighbor brat ended up throwing mud all over the house. My son got the belt, the other kids parents laughed at their son. Today, my son is a senior in college majoring in accounting, making deans list and working. The other kid barely made it out of high school, flunked out of college and is struggling through community college now.

You are so right, mama. Let the kids get away with stuff, laugh at them and make excuses for their actions is no way to bring up a kid. My son did not play out for a week. He stayed and watched the living room for snakes all week. School was out.

And you know one thing about tough love, it never hurt him to get punished. We continued to laugh about it together as he got older. He knew it was wrong, took the punishment, but later we both thought it was kind of funny.

Got caught tossing snowballs at cars when I was about 10 or so..a FELONY here in Virginia. Problem was one of my targets was one of my mothers friends. To make a long story short I got a good spanking and I never did that again. To make sure the lesson hit home my parents asked a state trooper that was a friend of theirs to come over and talk to me..i think that scared me more than the spanking did.
