They were out in front of the media. not to mention, as far as we know they didn't have to be in jail during trial. so they got bail at least at one point.
Since they've been convicted their bail should have been revoked immediately and they should have to do any appeals as a prisoner, not as free men, same applies to speaking to the press. I don't think that their bail was revoked though, and I strongly feel that the judge should do this, if he hasn't then the media should have his (the judge's) head on a stick.
Had bail been revoked, they would have been immediately handcuffed and led away to prison following conviction, they wouln't have had their "media moment" after the trial. Or their media comments would have needed to be made from a cell.
