2 Students Collapse & Die in SE TX within 2 Days

You hear of this kind of thing happening occasionally, but 2 students in the Golden Triangle (Beaumont, Port Arthur, Orange area) from 2 different schools collapse and die within 2 days of each other....kinda weird. Not to mention, extremely sad. :(


Student Dies After Collapsing at High School

A student in the Vidor school district has died after passing out on the high school campus.
Sally Kirkpatrick, Director of Community Relations for the Vidor ISD, says the high school student walked into the library at about 2:30 or 2:45 Monday afternoon to do some course work and collapsed.
She was taken to a hospital where she died.
Kirkpatrick says the student was an 18 year old senior.
The student is identified as Jamie Leigh Britt.
Kirkpatrick says it's not known yet what caused the student to collapse.

Student Dies After Collapsing During Baseball Game

A Nederland High School student has died after collapsing during a baseball game.
Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush tells KFDM News 18 year old senior Matthew Robert Robinson was in the batter's box when he collapsed last night during a Senior Babe Ruth Little League at Nederland High School.
Chief Bush says a call came in to 911 at about 8:15 p.m. Bush says paramedics tried to revive Robinson before taking him to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
He died at about 10 p.m.
Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam is conducting an inquest.
Monday, Vidor High School senior Jamie Britt collapsed in the library and died at a hospital.
On May 15, Nederland High School student Jordan Dixon was killed in an automobile accident.

No doubt there will be an investigation to see if by chance these two deaths are related although it is doubtful they are. Seems like even here it happens more and more often now and typically the autopsy shows an undiagnosed heart condition. Its very sad to see someone die so young :cry:
