Barbequing

With the cane season coming, we may need some more barbequing ideas.

Do you have some good and fun things you cook on your grill.

I like the kabobs... cherry tomatoes, baby onions, green peppers, mushrooms, fresh, etc. They cook good and fast and serve as your vegetable for your meal. I also pam and season them well.

Yum, those kabobs sound pretty delicious. A corncob with tzatziki is my favourite barbecue food though.

Oh, I love corn on the cob cooked on the grill, I put mine in tin foil, is that how you do your?

Yes, otherwise you'll end up with a charred corncob if you don't pay enough attention to it. And I'm not really fond of charred food

I bbq corn in the husk.I soak the corn in water for about an hour before grilling. The husk still burns but the corn is perfect, with a nice grill flavor.

Thanks, I may try it.

We have a big Weber grill, but we also use our little grill with chips. Personally, John and I use the little grill all the time, can't beat the chip taste.

We grill halved tomatoes (or a good third sliced off the top), with Italian Dressing drizzled over them and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and basil. I'm sure there'd be a fancy dish to make these in but we still use doubled heavy duty foil 'cups'.

That's about as fancy as I get!

I am going to try that. I do that in the oven with pam, garlic, seasoning and shredded chedder or motz cheese. But I will definately try yours next. Thanks

I cook everything on the grill in the warmer months. Corn is great on the grill, we use foil with butter inside. Peppers are another favorite on the grill. I am currently learning how to use the gas grill as a smoker whick will add another aspect to it.

Any my tip for you Janice, replace Pam with olive oil. It will give you a better flavor and i think is probably healthier. You can also infuse all kids of flavors into olive oil so it compliments the food you are cooking.

Thanks, I will try that... I have been buying Butter and Garlic Pam and like it, but I will try the Olive Oil and see.

And now you can purchase olive oil in a pump spray bottle, very similar to Pam. Mazola I belive makes it. It comes in both canola and olive oils. I use it all the time now since I'm trying to use aerosol cans less.

That is great news. I use olive oil in my salads, etc. But, the spray would be great.

This is just how I do it, too. Nothing like barbecued corn on the cob, grilled in the husk. :)

And to think, all those other schlubs shuck their corn at the store and throw away that excellent free cooking container. ;) :D

Sounds yummy, mama. I will definately try it. Don't know if I can find the seasoning here. Do you know a good substitute seasoning, if I can't?

any kind of "cajun" seasoning should do. I'll post later tonight the ingredients of it. You may be able to make your own.

I have some McCormicks 1Step Cajun seasoning here at home. It might work.
