I just renewed my McAfee Security System. They threw in this McAfee Clean Sweep program, which wipes out your Internet History everytime you close your browser. Well, I like being able to just go to my favorite sites and not have to log in everytime, so I Un-installed it. Only I still have to log into my site Can someone help me? Thanks!

Once you have cleared that info you have to log back in to all those sites once and then ask it to remeber you, and then you should be good. But once you have cleared that info, its pretty much done. Is that what you mean by you have to log into your site? Each site you have saved in your favirotes, your user name and password is gone?

Exact right Kel! And I have done that (re-logging into the sites). I have restarted my computer and everything :( My history is wiped clean STILL, every time I close my browser.

Hmmm, once you go back and re log in does it ask to save that info? It should. And most sites like S2K has a box to check that says remeber me each time I come back. Because I clean mine out on purpose about once a week and have to go through this once a week. I am not sure why it is not saving your history. Not familiar with McAfee Security either, but if you have uninstalled it it should not be affecting it. You could go into your internet options and check a few things. Go into tools>internet options> and then go to temporary internet files and hit settings. Under "check for newer versions of stored pages" the 'automatically' should be checked. Maybe that program reset some of your settings. Check that and make sure 'automatically' is checked.

Thanks for warning me because my renewal for McAffee is getting ready to come up. I would had been upset if it started missing with my computer like that even though it is simple to fix. Just one of these who like the way things are when they are running smoothly.

Kel, I've tried ALL of that. I have gone in and added my "allowed sites" to my browser and my Security Center. STILL won't work. Maybe I should uninstall McAfee completely and re-install it?

I would do that, though it won't bring back your internet pages.

I would think that you would have the ability to say that you don't want to install "Clean Sweep" when you re-install McAfee. There should be a "custom install" selection there.

Do you have an instruction manual or perhaps you could go to their website and look up the "Clean Sweep" function to give you more info.

Good Luck!

Removing your history is removing your history. Checking remember me will not help. Basically you need to right click the Mcafee icon in the taskbar, got to QuickClean/Disable and you should be ok.

Here is the manual for future reference:

Edit: I am assuming you are using Quick Clean as I couldn't find a Mcafee Clean Sweep program. If it is Clean Sweep let me know and I will dig deeper.

It's McAfee Clean Sweep - it was thrown in "free" for renewing my subscription. I don't know what has happened. I downloaded if Friday evening, didn't like it so I removed it yesterday.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I am trying all that you guys are suggesting.

I can only find Norton Clean Sweep and Mcafee Quick Clean so I will be of no help here!!

There will be an option to disable in the settings...if you are still having trouble then go to the Mcafee main site and get hold of their tech support.

I would also try the uninstall, then reinstall it custom. You could also go to their main site and see if there is some info there, since it is something new there is someone out there with your same problem I am sure. Good luck. :D

Sunny, you don't have your favorite sites under "favorites" (assuming your using IE). If you put them under favorites you'll always have them and then it'll be ok for your history to be deleted.

That won't stop her having to login again when she re-visits sites like this.

It's not clearing the cookies...it's clearing the history. I just logged out, went to IE properties, cleared history, logged back on and didn't have to resign in.

FINALLY got it figured out! This Clean Sweep program did mess with my settings. I had to go into my privacy settings and add the site I want to "allow". Everything is working fine again.

Thanks y'all :D
