When you go shopping, what is one thing you see patrons doing that drives you crazy?

Me.... leaving their shopping cart in the middle of an aisle and roaming the store. Yes, I will always move their cart.

Bending over with their butts out and their cart behind their butt...talk about a no-passing zone, sheesh

It's a tie nowadays:

Either cart in middle of aisle or talking on their cell and not paying attention to what they're doing (shopping!).

I hate when I am tripping over the same rude patron, aisle after aisle at the grocery store, b/c they're so clueless about simple courtesy. I sometimes skip an aisle to get ahead of them. Because after a while, you do send nasty glares their way. You can't help it!

Yes the shopping cart in the middle of the aisle drives me batty as well. I just stand there and stare at them till they make eye contact and move it. But if they are off in la la land and half way down the aisle I move it for them. Also what bugs me is sometimes I am unloading my $200 worth of grocerys and still have some left in the buggy, and someone will come up behind me and start putting thier stuff on the belt. HELLO!!!!!!! I still have stuff to unload here. How about when you are in line and people behind you want to stand 1 inch away from you. Get out of my personal space. lol. Back it on up.

I hate it when the person ahead of me in line takes forever to get rung up because they can't hear the clerk. This is caused, of course, by the fact that they're talking to some other moron on their cellphone. They're also rude to the clerk the whole time by not acknowledging anything the clerk says. I've never worked in retail, but this still bothers me as I despise rude people in general.

I also hate when there is no price on an item and I have to wait in line for 10 minutes while some moron looks for the price and has no idea where the item came from anyway...

LOL, I know what you mean Janice. If that person happens to be me with no price or I need a new one because the one I got was broke, ect. I generally offer to go for them because I know exactley where it came from and I can walk fast, but usually they are like no, and then you wait an eon till they locate the item.

A couple of the grocery stores here in Galveston have the lottery machines in the express lane. So, inevitably, when I'm in a hurry, someone will be there cashing in old tickets and buying new ones without filling out the slip that feeds into the machine and automatically prints the ticket. Instead, he or she will just stand there, "Um...3...8...uh, let's see...12...22...23...and...um...5 for the Bonus Ball" while the clerk has to manually enter the numbers by hand. And it's not just one ticket. Usually three or four.

Meanwhile, there's an automated machine near the door that can read winning tickets and allow a person to buy new tickets with the credits, all with a touch-screen for selecting their preferred numbers or doing a quick pick.

Bugs me because it takes the whole "express" part out of "express lane."

Oh, I have to add patrons in the parking lot too. I just about go crazy with all the car alarms going off and the people are inside shopping and unaware of it.

Oh, I forgot one, that Janice's parking lot comment reminded me of. I really, really hate it when I can't find a parking space because ALL of them are taken up by shopping carts. I think if people would take the few extra steps to put it in a cart return spot, we might take a chunk out of the obesity crisis.

I agree on that one, but I don't know about walking it to the return, at least put it at the tippy top of the parking spot so its not in the way. With 3 kids its much easier just to leave it where you parked, ecspecially if you have a baby, but I always move mine where people can still get in.

I was in the thrift store this weekend and OMG, someone died up in there. Makes you wanna puke. And if that wasn't bad enough they did it a second time. I grabed my kid and we move to another part of the store.

It's the women who wait and dig around in their purse and pull out the checkbook after the clerk is finished ringing up the items. DOH...you knew you were going to write a check...get the darn thing filled out except for the amount while the clerk's ringing you up!

Yeah, people in the checkout line behind you that can't wait. They'll reach way over my stuff to grab that divider and frantically start putting things on the belt as soon as there's an inch of space on it. Like they're going to get done any faster!
That's when I wish I could pass gas.

My dad taught me years ago to be a courteous driver. Now bear with me, I do have a point. I just think the way 'traffic' flows in a store, especially a grocery store or that main aisle at Wal-Mart or Target, is very similar to a busy road. You pull over your cart if you have to stop for more items, you do not leave it in the middle of the aisle. You also don't hold up people behind you by not being ready to pay (as pointed out). Making your check out ahead of time, having your ID handy, etc.

I've just always compared shopping aisles to driving. I also look before I exit an aisle, I don't come barreling out and hit another cart (another rude patron habit).

The worst - those long kiddie cars in front of regular shopping carts. I couldn't even count the times I've thought to myself - I'm glad my kids missed that whole phase! The parents aren't able to concentrate on anything but keeping their kids happy, with sippie drinks and snacks.

LOL, about the carts. I do not allow my 3 year old to get in those ones like a car, I tell her she is too old, but she asks every time. But I do use the ones with seats attached for long shopping trips. And it was a life saver with the twins, hard to buckle 2 toddlers in a regular cart. I hate driving them as well, like driving a limo. lol. I am over them.

my eternal pet peeve is the bozo who gets in the 10-item cash-only express lane with a full cart and a checkbook.

Oooooohhh, that just burns me up.

and then there are the old people who just step right in front of you in line like you arent there. i'm like, come on granny, lets take this outside...

How about the people waiting for your parking space and make 10 cars behind them wait.

I do not like those people who are just too darn lazy to walk with a shopping cart. What do they do? They get a wheelchair shopping cart then block the aisles.
