days away from the 4th anniversary of the
BIGGEST and deadly fire, the Rodeo
Chediski Fire and here we go

Evacuations underway in Chevelon Retreat
'Lightning bust' keeps firefighters scrambling

High winds Monday caused spotting ahead of the Potato Fire At 3:30 p.m. the fire reached the "trigger point" at Forest Road 153A, and about 20 residents were ordered to evacuate the Chevelon Retreat subdivison.
The Red Cross began setting up an emergency shelter at the Capps Elementary School at Capps and Buckskin Road in Heber for evacuees.
The Potato Fire, 10 miles northwest of Heber/Overgaard was 2,800 acres in size June 12, and was about 30 percent contained. According to the latest report, the Forest Service was planning to change to a Type 2 Team at 6 p.m. Monday.
Forest roads 504, 170, and 99 are now closed. People are urged to stay out of the area as they will impede fire traffic.

That's a sad situation. Stay safe! When one thinks of these kinds of fires, it's usually Cali, or even Fla. or Tex. that comes to mind... (Or that infamous Yellowstone one!)... these things can be catastrophic... like I said.. take care.

This particular fire has burned 5000 acres which is a fairly typical fire for AZ. We get lots of wildfires this time of year though I'm still waiting to see where the biggee of the year occurs.
