I know this was supposed to be humorous and I'm not anti-gun ownership, just anti-idiot with gun. It comes from working in the ER.

But why only quote accidental gun deaths?

Accidental death resulting from a physician's actions probably come as the result of trying to save a life, not take one.

And how many people commit suicide by doctor?

There sure are lots of idiots out there. I think that our real problem is idiots whether they be gun owners, doctors, lawyers, whatever. Unfortunately you can't legislate against idiots, so they try a lot of variations of laws that address the symptoms but don't get to the real root of the problem. Some idiots do manage to take themselves out of the gene pool, but being the civilized, merciful, nation that we are, we'll always try hard to keep them around. (shrugs shoulders)

I know this is supposed to be a parody off of those silly emails people get but this one just rubbed me the wrong way. Gun deaths are not something to play or joke around about. And not all gun deaths are accidental. Believe me and I know from experience.

And where the equation on doctors come in. Accidental deaths. With a gun? Somewhere I got lost in that one.

I think the post is trying to show that Stats can be manipulated to demonstrate many points, some of them quite absurd. The Doctor/Gun connection is one of the absurd illustrations. Stats can be manipulated many ways and remember the same numbers can show different outcomes.

For instance:
These Stats are made up and do not reflect reality

1 in 10 Americans will die of disease (Negative connotation)
9 out of 10 Americans die of something other than disease
so 90% of Americans are healthy and disease free!!

Yes, and everyone is going to die of something. So, 100% of all Americans will die someday.....

People kill, not guns.... people force the gun to shoot...

Saying Guns kill People is like saying Cars kill Drunk Drivers....................
