BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- An al Qaeda-affiliated group on Monday claimed it kidnapped two U.S. soldiers south of Baghdad, although the captives were not named.

The group -- Mujahedeen Shura Council -- made the unverified claim in a statement posted on a Web site. It did not post images or video of the soldiers as it has in the past.

It sounds like these heros were tortured. This is SO horrible. May God rest their souls, and somehow bring peace to their families...

Yes, I am glad that is over for them. Their families probably knew what their ending would be about. God bless all our soldiers over there serving our country.

You know what bothers me about this is that it is never going to end. I think this is just the beginning of a long horrible happening. It doesn't matter if we are in Iraq or another part of the world, the terrorists are waiting for our boys. And they will kill them in the most vicious way.

It's not really "kidnapping" to capture an enemy soldier in wartime. They were taken prisoner, not kidnapped.

I don't know if anyone here supports the idea of our govenrment using torture on enemy combatants, but for anyone who does: I'd be curious to hear a justification of torture knowing that ourru own guys have probably been tortured. Is it okay for us to do it but wrong for the other guy to do it?

Here's the catch - they didn't take them PRISONER. So yes, they did in effect KIDNAP them and then they tortured them. They mutilated their bodies beyond recognition! How can you justify that?

Well either way this is the kind of thing that scares the living s@#t out of me because I found out that my brother is going back to Iraq in october/november time frame.

Yes, looks like they are going to target more of our boys over there. Southfloridawx, we will be thinking of your family. It is not going to get any better, IMO. There must be many more terrorists there than we are aware of. There is little protection for any Westerner there now.

Thanks and I agree with you... it's has not and is not going to get any better over there. Not to be the negative nelly but, I will join you on those sentiments.

War is war and none of it is pretty. This all has been going on since the beginning of time. We just hear more of the details with tv, etc.

I'm sorry - but this is really bothering me. How can you make a statement like this? Yeah, okay, our people have done some things, but it is not even CLOSE to what was done to Pfc. Thomas Tucker and Pfc. Kristian Menchaca.

Strangely enough I understand what he is saying but, who knows what we are doing to them. During war time there is a lot of stuff that goes un-reported. This is not unpatriotic for him to say that but, the other stuff gtalum... he is just being overly picky in a thread that doesn't need to be.

I really found myself struggling to read this article... In fact I haven't made it passed a couple of sentences in the the first paragraph. My mind will not let me fathom to think that something like that could happen to my brother.

I feel like it is my fault that he is going back there. He lived with me for a year recently but, did nothing in the time that he lived with me. Maybe I could have pushed him farther and been harder on him but, I remember when people have done that in the past.

It was about may or june of last year when he moved in with me after doing 2 1/2 years overseas and 2 years in Iraq, mostly in Baghdad Island there. He did a lot of setting up and support for not only for the army but, the marines as well.

I remember times when he would be drinking and he would just start crying.

Well after a year it I think it finally occured to him that he actually liked the army life or... thinks he does because in a way I think it is a way out for him not to have to get used to civilian life. I should have pushed him harder and been a little meaner to get him to get a job. I know you can lead a horse to water but, can't make him drink it ... kind of thing is probably the best explination but, either way he is going back to Iraq and there is nothing I can do about it now but, support him still. He will always be my brother no matter what happens so there is no point in getting or being mad at each other. Besides I have done pleanty of screw-ups in my life.

since when have the terrorists been known to be "soldiers" as according thy the geneva convention? This is NOT soldier against soldier - it is mad men against soldiers.
