Fla. restaurant sells $100 hamburger

BOCA RATON, Fla. - A hundred bucks might buy you more than six dozen burgers from McDonald's, but the swanky Old Homestead Steakhouse will sell you one brawny beef sandwich for the same price.

Boca Raton Mayor Steven Abrams could barely speak between bites as he devoured the 20-ounce, $100 hamburger billed as the "beluga caviar of sandwiches."

"Heaven on a bun," restaurant owner Marc Sherry said.

The burger debuted Tuesday at the restaurant in the Boca Raton Resort and Club, where a membership costs $40,000 and an additional $3,600 a year.

"We've never had a hamburger on our menu here so we really wanted to go to the extreme," Sherry said, calling it "the most decadent burger in the world."

At about 5 1/2 inches across and 2 1/2 inches thick, the mound of meat is comprised of beef from three continents — American prime beef, Japanese Kobe and Argentine cattle.

The bill for one burger, with garnishing that includes organic greens, exotic mushrooms and tomatoes, comes out to $124.50 with tax and an 18 percent tip included. The restaurant will donate $10 from each sale to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

McGuires in Destin, Fl also has a $100 burger on its menu. We went eat there last August on my summer vacation there. No way did I order any $100 burger. I will never pay that much for food no matter what they rave about.

Seems like they should donate more like $20.00 for each hamburger sold.
It is insane what people with too much money will spend it on.

I haven't been to McQuires in a few years, so I don't know if they still have it or not...but they did have it on their souvenier menu from 1977.

That Irish coffee is delicious. You get alot to eat for your money too.
There is about $250,00 in dollar bills hanging from the rafters.

Janet Jackson Loved the Chicken Sandwiches at the Pensacola site that she would always have them flown in to her wherever she was.

Here is the home page to McQuires... http://www.mcGuiresirishpub.com/
McGuires has a brewery too... http://www.mcguiresirishpub.com/brewery.html

Yes, they still have the $100 burger on the menu at Mc Guires in Destin. I went eat there last August. I don't see what all the rave about that restarant. It was very popular and had good reviews, so we decided to try it. It was very expensive. The only one that was satisfied with her food was my aunt who ordered a burger. Not a $100 burger, but a regular one for $10. My aun'ts friend had the corn beef and cabbage and said it was terrible. She barely ate 2 bites of her food. I had a steak and you had to get a chainsaw to cut it. Maybe the other food was good, I don't know. Or maybe we caught them on a bad day.
