HEY!!!
I was fine. I did go to work yesterday and today, but the casinos were shut down.
I didn't want to post anything about this because I didn't want to have to ban myself!

Suffice it to say, when November elections come around and my Assemblymen are up for election (I think it's next year), I'm voting for Mickey Mouse or whomever. I have a feeling (at least I hope) that we're going to see another PA voter reaction to their Legislators increasing their salary.
The sales tax ended up being increased by 1% as Corzine wanted and the Senate approved. There's ALOT of work to be done still and ALOT of things that they need to clean up like property tax, etc. I'm sure if they really worked at it, they could find enough money to eliminate that additional 1%. I'm just glad that Corzine is running the State as a BUSINESS instead of business as usual (or politics as usual).
Actually, I had heard a rumor that the Sands had planned to close down this weekend if they didn't pass the budget. It would've been temporary but still. I was waiting for my turn to be told to "take a vacation". It sure was eerie having the casino
quiet .

It can't. It's just the usual government stupidity.
The state government had to shut down because they couldn't come to a budget agreement. The casinos in NJ are not allowed to run without state officials present. SO the casinos had to close.
Pure stupidity.
I have no idea how a state with a massive income tax and high taxes all around can have such a stupid budget crisis.

The Assembly won't be up for a vote until 2007. They have ALOT of work to do to clean up the state's finances and reel in the property taxes before I would even CONSIDER voting for any of the incumbents. I'll write in Mickey Mouse if I have to.
They finally had to work for a living instead of being allowed to sweep under the rug the big problems and the decisions that had to go with them. I'm actually glad that they do have that law where they can't spend money if the budget isn't passed on anything other than "essential" personnel. It forces them to stop screwing around and do something and highlights the incompetence of them as well.
