I think we should ban all Java loops from Storm2k. lol
It slows everything down and screws up my Firefox. After clicking on that link, I had to restart and lost everything I was working on. It drives me nuts as it does it a lot. Otherwise, my computer is lightning fast with a cable connection.
Not picking on you at all ronjon, everyone posts them...I'm just irritated with Java.

I use firefox also and I don't ever have a problem - do we need to compare settings?

I also use Firefox and don't seem to have any problems. I do find, however, the very first time I visit a site with Java, it takes a little while to load, but once that java has loaded for the first time, any other site with java pops up in a jiffy!

Did y'all download and install the latest update? I didn't realize that Firefox was set to do that automatically and the problems started after the latest update, about a month or so ago. It's driving me nuts...I can't even look at sat loops anymore because after waiting on it for a while to load (which it will occasionally), I see that Firefox has stopped running and after I "end task" on everything since it's frozen up, I can't open Firefox again without restarting my computer, and thus, losing anything I was working on. It's beyond frustrating. My connection is fast and loops used to load quickly, but being the weather nut I am, I have to be able to look at sat loops. I've tried the Firefox support message board, but so far, not much help. I think I'm just going to get the latest IE and dump Firefox.

Hey Kelly I have the same exact problem. I can only use the new IE explorer to load my java. It just does the same thing yours does.

Might have to.I have noticed other's posting FireFox loading problems as of late. The loops load instantly for me, with IE.

Me too skysummit, and it's really screwing up my computer. Judging from the complaints on the Firefox support board, quite a few others are having trouble as well. You're one of the lucky ones.
South...which IE do you have? I'm trying to find somewhere to download the latest IE 7 and I'm running around in circles. I have no idea what to get as they can't just say "Upgrade here from IE6" and be done with it.
Get Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3
Download* the latest version of the worlds most popular web browser for the following operating systems:
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)
(build number 7.0.5450.4)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition
(build number 7.0.5450.4)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
(build number 7.0.5450.4)
Internet Explorer 7 Beta 3 for Windows Server 2003 ia64 Edition
(build number 7.0.5450.4)

Assuming you have Windows XP and it automatically updates (meaning you should already have SP2), I would download IE 7 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en
I've been using it for a month or so and I like it so far.
Also - they will probably have an upgrade feature built-in to the final release.

Thanks...that's what I downloaded and I can't get anything to work in IE at all now. Their home default page won't work, I tried Storm2k and Excite...nothing. I have no clue what the problem is, but I don't have IE6 on here anymore either, so now I can't connect with IE at all. grrrr
I get this:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.
What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
For offline users
You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds
Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.
To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)
Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.
I'm connected as I'm on Firefox now, I tried several different websites, and I typed them correctly.
SSL and TLS are both checked.
Anyone have a clue? They don't offer anything else to check.
Nothing can just be simple for me.

What version of Windows are you using?
Check this: In IE - click Tools|Internet Options|Connections and make sure you have your current connection listed. If not, click Add and copy the settings from Firefox if you can.
If that won't work.....might have to email MS.

Windows XP Home
I checked and there's nothing listed under Connections. However, I went through the New Connection Wizard and it says my Broadband Connection should be working. There's nothing listed there though. Right now, I'd like to toss this fairly new computer out the window as I've wasted half my day on this crap. Thanks for trying to help...I'm just really frustrated right now.
What do you mean by "copy the settings from Firefox"? If you don't mind, explain it to me like I'm 5.

I set up a broadband connection and it keeps trying to dial a connection, and of course it fails, since I don't have dial-up. I just want to connect to the internet. My goodness!!
I'm losing it.

On the settings from Firefox - look under tools|options|connection settings and see what is listed. They should be the same in IE. It's very odd you tried to setup a broadband connection and it's trying to do dialup. Without seeing your configuration it's hard for me to diagnose. You might have to contact Microsoft. IE7 should have carried over your settings from IE6. I can't figure out why it wouldn't. One thing I thought of - was your version of IE a "custom" version from SBC or Roadrunner someone like that? Sometimes those versions have upgrade issues.

In Firefox, it just says *Direct connection to the internet.
Nothing else is highlighted. I tried the broadband again, and it says, "Your broadband connection should be configured and ready to use" but it doesn't work.
I've been clicking on "setup" because the "add" option is under dial-up. There's also a LAN connection option at the bottom.
I had whatever IE6 came on this computer when I bought it last year as I immediately downloaded Firefox and have been using that. I wonder if Microsoft has a phone number as all email support I've ever tried never seems to address the problem correctly. It's usually a form letter for something other than what my problem is.
I do have RoadRunner.

Can you go to IE and download it now thus overriding the FF and IE becoming your new Browser?

It might be a configuration issue with Roadrunner. You might try calling them and they may be able to walk you through it, but there's also a risk they'll say "we don't support Beta versions".
