The End Of The World

When does the Bible say the end of the world will come. I am sure that all the good people who are destined for heaven have already been counted. So, with all the horrible conditions here and all the suffering, so you ever wonder why God is still waiting? I wonder what he is waiting for? He can surely see that things will not get any better.

I dont consider the Bible to be the authoritative word on anything, let alone the end of the world.

This thread will probably not stay open very long... great topic for discussion but I doubt it can stay under control.

This subject fascinates me but I am somewhat unlearned in this regard. Hopefully we can keep this thread above the fray and have intelligent discussion.

It's fairly clear that the Bible lays no timeline for Armageddon to occur. Scholars have debated this very subject for centuries.

That said, I'm with alicia-w on this one.

The Bible states that you shouldnt try to guess the times, it'll happen when it happens...

Nothing we can do to stop it either. I would rather not know when it's coming so I have no time to think about it and get scared.

I once had a priest say to me when I asked him this question that only God knows when the end of the world will come and until that time we should live our live according to the way God wants us to live them. This discussion came around the time when we went to the War in Iraq and people were making comments about the end of the world is coming.

As it states in the Book Of Revelations, "Keep a weary eye and your heart prepared, like a theif in the night, the master will come!" When it happens, it happens, until then, live your life LIKE the end is today and when He DOES come to get us........OH what a glorious day that will BE! 8-)

Horrible conditions? Are you kidding? What about a short while back, when a simple infection meant amputation WITHOUT anesthetic, epileptics were considered demonic, violent crime rates soared above those today and NOBODY had any rights except VERY wealthy, major land holding (100,000+ acres), WHITE MALES. The days of our "Founding Fathers", often looked upon with nostalgia, now THOSE were some horrible conditions, and we were relatively "enlightened". And while I'm on the subject, surely you know most of the Founding Fathers were NOT Christian, they were Deists, BIG difference.

Thank you, Alicia! :bday:

We don't know the date of the end of the world but the funny thing is there won't be a end to the world! Did you know that the bible never says "the end of the world"? It says there will be no end and there will be a new heaven and new earth. You may call that the end but the world but really it isn't.

When does the Bible say the end of the world will come.

It doesn't say in the first place that the world is ever coming to an end. Many people mistake it for something else like Jesus's return for example.

So, with all the horrible conditions here and all the suffering, so you ever wonder why God is still waiting?

I don't think it's that time yet.

Exactly. How sad that some of you don't consider the Bible to be the authoritative word on anything when it should be the authoritative word on everything. I can't imagine living my life with no real meaning, no guidance from above. Scary. Anyway, everyone will find out one day, but it's sad that it will be too late for many.

Actually, it's the Book of Revelation.

IMO, we aren't supposed to know when it will be. But last one here can turn the lights out. :)

Ah well, everyone has their own way of living their life, be it without some sort of book to guide one's life or without. Both are perfectly fine as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Nothing sad about not believing in the bible.

But back on topic. Since I'm not religious at all, I think the end of the world will come when the sun starts expanding deu to the lack of fuel. The earth will then become so hot that any form life will just be impossible. But it'll take a while before anything like that happens.

I dont need the Bible to have meaning in my life. And I wont deny it to those who feel they do.

i have just seen and read about so much suffering inflicted in the name of God that organized religion no longer does anything for me. I am happy for those who feel comfort and solace in their beliefs, but it isnt for me.

Here's a couple thoughts: If we spend our life worrying about things, like that, then the next thing you know, your life will be gone and you will have nothing to show for it.

Also: One thing is certain, each of our own personal "worlds" will come to an end at our demise. If we are concerned about what happens in the thereafter, then it would be good advice to live each day as if it could be our last.

Many would say just the opposite.

It could be said that it is very sad that in order to have meaning in your life you require guidance from above and have to rely on something that has no direct implication to reality due to its ambiguity....but everyone is entitled to gain solace from whatever means they want.

Kelly im not much into religion or going to church but nevertheless I do agree. No in not an atheist ive just had some bad experiences with organized religion. Well back on topic: When the end of the world comes it will come in the blink of an eye. Too late for repentance then. As was said earlier in this thread , live each day like it is your last.
