Airbus A390 does not exist; aircraft was an A310.
Regardless, RIP to the passengers and prayers will be going out to the survivors as well as the family members and friends of those on board.

Yeah, I didn't think it did. Sad story no less.

Agreed. At least some survived, although that isn't much consolation to the loved ones of those that didn't.
Bad situation all around; thankfully we don't see these things too often. Much too tragic to deal with day in and day out...

It's way too early to say what caused this crash... but weather will become a factor I am sure in the days and weeks and months ahead.
Irkutsk in the previous 24 hours was enjoying relatively warm weather ( at least 80F 27C) but Sunday turned rainy and cold, with temperatures hovering around 52F 11C, very low ceilings at just 600 feet, low visibilties 3.5 kilometers and under, and even thunderclouds observed from the airport, and west winds 10-12 mph.

Yeah I read this last night after coming home from an air show. Definately sad. Last report showed 122 comfirmed dead with 20 some still missing. Some walked away unharmed. Still the safest way to travel.

On an interesting but completely unrelated side note, the aircraft in question was previously owned by both Delta Airlines and Pan Am.

Must be an older aircraft. I know the A310s are equiped with the older style cockpits instead of the glass ones with fly by wire technology. I was in a FedEx one yesterday at an airshow.

Why haven't I seen ANY media coverage on this?
